We were closed to the public on Easter Sunday so everyone could take a break, but we had a pretty epic Saturday.
We received six male rats and three females from the East Valley Animal Shelter in Van Nuys. They were found abandoned in front of the facility on April Fools Day, and one of the females gave birth to 16 little beans that day. We were contacted by East Valley and arranged to have them brought to SBRR this weekend.
In addition, the two boys who were adopted by a pair of new rat parents came along for the ride during this mass transport. They came from the Burbank Animal Shelter, and had been stuck there for nearly a month. Thankfully, they just needed a change of scenery to find their new family and we were glad to help.
Special thanks to Bunnies of East Valley for the above and beyond work of snagging all of these animals and transporting them to Lawndale so we can continue their care here.
The babies will be ready in early May, and the boys are ready to adopt now. The two other adult girls in the mix will remain on pregnancy watch for two more weeks before we can make them available.
By the way, we have a bunch of baby boys and other fun dudes available for immediate adoption. Come and see us soon!
