We have exciting news to share! Dr. Savannah Busby is returning to Lavonia Animal Hospital! She joined us in 2017 after graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. After a few years at Lavonia Animal Hospital, she transitioned to poultry medicine and worked with the federal government for six years before deciding to return to private practice. We are more than thrilled to have her with us again! She is returning August 27, 2026.

Happy 52nd Anniversary to Dr. Hitchcock and Lavonia Animal Hospital! Dr. Hitchcock first opened up on August 12, 1974. We are still in the same location!

We offer boarding for your pets in a safe, indoor, climate controlled facility, along with close monitoring and supervision and veterinary care if needed. Call us for rates and availability, and let us know if your pet has any special requirements (medications, etc). We provide food or you can bring your own. Drop-off and pick-up times are generally during regular office hours, but we can make arrangements in advance for specific times on weekends. All pets must be current on annual vaccinations, including rabies, DA2PLCPV, and Bordetella for dogs, and rabies and feline leukemia/FVRCP for cats. For safety reasons, we do not board aggressive animals.

Happy Fourth of July!

Our office will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the Fourth of July. If your pet needs medication refills, especially for fireworks anxiety, please come see us and obtain refills before we close on Friday! We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday!

We are accepting new clients, but our appointments fill up quickly! Clients, new and old, are welcome to come in as a walk-in each day, but please be patient, because there may be long waits. The best times to come in on a walk-in basis are at 8:30 in the morning and at 2 in the afternoon, and we will do our best to see you as quickly as possible. We are open 8:30 am - 12:00 pm each day and 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm in the afternoons, Monday-Friday. We usually close between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm for lunch and surgeries.

For patients with after-hours/weekend emergencies, we recommend using one of several area emergency clinics for after-hours and weekend care. Please visit our website at https://lavoniaanimalhospital.vet/home-2/sample-page/ for contact information for area emergency hospitals.
