We depend on the City of Laurinburg and Scotland County for animal control, and do not provide those services ourselves. We are the only shelter in Scotland County, and we are "open admission", which means we take in animals collected and impounded by City Police and County Animal Control, owner surrenders and strays from the public. We work very hard to adopt out as many as possible through rescue partners and local adoptions.

At just 5–6 months old, Trixie is a playful, curious girl ready to find her forever family! 🐶

This rambunctious little girl loves exploring, testing things out, and playing to her heart’s content! She did wonderfully meeting another dog and wasn’t nervous at all. She’s already walking on a leash, though she’ll need a little more practice with her puppy wiggles and acrobatics! 😂

Trixie is full of personality, sweetness, and puppy energy. Now she just needs someone willing to help her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. ❤️

📣 SHELTER CLOSURE NOTICE

Scotland County Humane Society will be closed to the public Tuesday and Wednesday for staff training and cat room renovations. 🐾

Our Animal Control Officer (ACO) will continue operating as usual during this time.

❤️ RAINEY DESERVES A HOME OF HER OWN! 🐾

Some dogs wait patiently for someone to notice them, and sweet Rainey is one of them. 🥺❤️

Rainey is a gentle, happy girl who has so much love to give. She may take a little time to come out of her shell, but once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality shines through! She’s good on a leash and has done well around other dogs.

Rainey doesn’t need a perfect family — she just needs someone willing to give her a chance. Someone who will love her, be patient with her, and show her what it means to finally belong.

❤️ Our hearts are FULL today! 🐾

We’ve received so much love and support today at Scotland County Humane Society! 🥹💕 Two lovely ladies stopped by with donations, and we’ve also had several Amazon packages arrive!

From dog food and treats to cleaning supplies and paper towels, every donation makes a difference for the animals in our care. These little acts of kindness help us continue showing up for the dogs and cats who need us most. 🐶🐱

To everyone who has donated, sent a package, or thought of our shelter today — THANK YOU! We appreciate every single one of you more than you know. ❤️

🚨 TNR PROGRAM FUNDING UPDATE 🚨

Unfortunately, our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program has currently run out of funding. Until additional funding becomes available, we cannot issue vouchers for feral cat services.

Please do not take feral cats to X-Way Animal Hospital without first receiving a new voucher from Scotland County Humane Society. We will only be able to issue new vouchers once funding is available for the program to continue.

We understand how important TNR is to our community and the feral cats we serve. We hope to resume issuing vouchers as soon as funding allows.

If you would like to help us continue this program, please consider donating to support our feral cat fund. Every donation makes a difference in helping us humanely manage feral cat populations in our community. ❤️
