What an incredible day!

We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to all of our amazing clients, patients, friends, family members, and community supporters who joined us for our Grand Reopening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration. Seeing so many familiar faces come together to celebrate made this milestone even more special.

This event marked a very important occasion for us as we celebrated Dr. K's 10th anniversary of owning and leading our practice. Over the past decade, Dr. K's dedication, compassion, and commitment to providing exceptional veterinary care have helped shape our hospital into what it is today. We are grateful for the trust and support our community has shown throughout this journey.

A very special thank you goes out to our incredible staff. Events like this do not happen without a tremendous amount of hard work behind the scenes. From planning and organizing to decorating, setting up, and helping everything run smoothly, our team went above and beyond to make this celebration a success. Your dedication, teamwork, and passion for our hospital and our patients truly shined throughout the day.

Another very special thank you to our amazing LVTs, Victoria and Rebecca, for providing informative and engaging guided tours of our clinic during our Grand Reopening celebration!

We are so grateful for the time and care they took to walk our clients through our hospital, explain our protocols, and showcase the advanced equipment we use every day to provide exceptional patient care. Their knowledge, professionalism, and passion for veterinary medicine helped give our guests a behind-the-scenes look at what makes our practice so special.

Today’s the Day!

Capitaland Animal Hospital will be closed for regular services today as we celebrate our Open House!

This special day marks 10 years under new ownership and the near completion of our clinic renovation. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

If your pet requires emergency care, please contact Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital, Upstate Veterinary Specialties, or Pet Medic of Albany.

We are excited to officially invite the community to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Capitaland Animal Hospital this Saturday, May 30th at 11AM as they celebrate the grand opening of their newly renovated clinic in Latham!

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to stay for an Open House until 3PM featuring family-friendly activities including face painting, carnival games, cat adoptions through APF, raffle giveaways, a bounce house & more.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the newly renovated facility and meet the Capitaland Animal Hospital team. We are excited to celebrate this milestone and welcome them to the community as they continue serving pets and families throughout the Capital Region!

Dogs are the best!

Dogs notice the little things we think nobody sees. They learn our routines, our moods, and the quiet changes in us that words never explain. Long before we realize we need comfort, they are already beside us offering love without conditions. To them, we are not just part of their life, we are their world.

Good to know! Those ground wasps are nasty AND PAINFUL!

The wasp building a small open nest under your eave isn't the one that stings at picnics. That's a different species entirely.

Paper wasps build small, visible nests with open hexagonal cells — usually a dozen adults, not aggressive away from the nest, and they hunt garden caterpillars to feed their young.

Yellowjackets build hidden nests underground or inside walls. Colonies reach thousands by late summer. They're the ones at the soda can, the hamburger, the trash can. They sting repeatedly.

The quick read: open nest under the eave with visible cells = paper wasp, leave it. Wasp at your plate interested in your food = yellowjacket, different animal entirely.

The nest most people spray is the species that rarely stings and eats garden pests. The species that actually causes problems nests where you can't see it.

We might be a little too excited for our Open House… because the celebrations have already started early 🎉 Some of our staff members broke out the chalk and created a colorful hopscotch path and sign outside the hospital to help us count down to Saturday’s big event!
