Here are some pics and videos of Mr Loki. He'll be available next week for meet and greets with new prospective families.
So far, here's his likely perfect match.
His former household was a single gentleman in his late 20s, who had frequent family visitation.
Loki is comfortable around older adults and children over the age of 12.
Although he was socialized with young children before his original placement, he hasn't been interacting with very small children since then, so a home with older kids should be fine.
We think he'd do best in a household without cats. Although he'd been properly socialized with cats before his original placement, he wad a baby baby then and hasn't seen a cat since. He has a healthy prey drive so he would probably chase a cat if they ran from him.
Could this be managed? Probably, but a home with no cats would be an easier transition.
He is housebroken in the general sense, and crate trained.
When he is in a brand new environment he DOES mark, (urinate). After marking a couple of times, he seemed to settle and go back to being housebroken. Obviously this will have to be corrected over time, so be aware he's like an adolescent in this way and plan accordingly.
Sometimes he is barking in his crate. He DOES NOT have separation anxiety, as he does settle eventually and a dog with SepAnx will continue to escalate the anxious behaviors. I suspect his former home let him out of the crate if he barked and he has developed this behavior as a result of being rewarded for it.
My guess is that all he really needs is a home where he will get a lot more exercise than he has been getting,
consequently, I will only consider homes where he will have access to a fenced yard to run in.
Like all young Dobies. He needs exercise and structure, every day.
If Mr Loki seems like he would be a good fit for you family, please fill out an application. Once he has finished his board and train, he will become available to meet new prospective families.
I would like to place him as quickly as I can, to re-home him as few times as possible, but i am willing to wait as long as needed for the perfect fit.
Are YOU the perfect fit?
