It’s been a crazy week with everyone coming to town so this post is a few days late.

Between the Mike and Sherrylynn Johnson's Vegas Tuffest Jr World Championship and KK Run for Vegas/Junior NFR Barrel Race & Pole Bending we have 5 of our horses competing with new riders on board.

We couldn’t be more proud of this mare. Goosie was called upon yesterday afternoon to help a young cowgirl, less than 24 hours later, try to get to the finals at the Vegas Toughest Barrel Race. She just finished her first derby year and is getting faster every month.

5150 miles. 97 Driving Hours. 1 Unforgettable Summer.

From Las Vegas to Farmington, NM ➝ Castle Rock, CO ➝ Illinois ➝ Kentucky ➝ Horton, AL ➝ Perry, GA ➝ back to Horton ➝ Amarillo, TX ➝ Farmington again ➝ and finally back home to Las Vegas…
This was the summer rodeo road trip of a lifetime.

We left June 26 and pulled into home July 30. Maddalyn caught a flight from Amarillo to Reno near the end of the trip to join her sister and Grandad on their annual fishing trip. She’ll be back August 2.

Portlynn joined us in Colorado, and the boys (plus Jersey) handled the haul like champions—trading off driving shifts and supporting every step of the way.

And what a journey it was.

🏆 Money won. Buckles won. Prizes earned. Lessons learned.
🙌 Most of all—we were blessed with safety.

Maddalyn made 28 runs.
She tipped one barrel. That’s it.
Even during a finals run with tack malfunction, she smiled and waved to the crowd instead of breaking down. Her humility, poise, and heart for this sport shine brighter than any buckle.

She also brought home a race win in Farmington, one of many proud highlights from the trip.

This summer lit a fire inside her—to come back even stronger next year. And yes, we will be repeating this adventure.

Along the way, Maddalyn qualified for the KK Jr NFR, and gained more than just awards—she grew as a competitor and a person.

To our friends, family, sponsors, and followers—thank you.
They say the top can be lonely, but we know the top reveals who your real supporters are. True friends will always be clapping when you win.

To anyone chasing this dream:
💥 You don’t need a $20K or $100K horse to succeed.
Maddalyn doesn’t ride expensive horses.
She rides with heart.
She works hard.
She studies.
She listens to those who’ve been there.
She puts in the time, and it shows.
She makes inexpensive horses competitive—because hard work and dedication will always take you farther than a price tag.

Keep grinding. Stay humble. Support others.

🐴 Meet Our Horses🐴

Let’s talk about the powerhouse, the queen, the legend herself — Bombshell Bettie 💥 also known around here as Bettie Girl, Bet Bet, or Queen B 👑

Bettie is the definition of heart, talent, and resilience. She came into our lives as a step-up horse for our favorite jockey, Maddalyn, and while their time running together was shorter than we ever hoped, the bond they formed was unshakable. 💛

Like Birdy, Bettie taught us a lot — most notably, the importance of prior purchase exams. Sadly, Bettie’s extensive past injuries weren’t disclosed to us at the time of purchase, and we made the mistake of not doing a PPE. Despite this, she had a resume full of buckles, trophies, saddles, and undeniable talent.

But their journey took a tough turn when Bettie required colic surgery. It was a miracle she survived — and Maddalyn waited patiently to bring her back. Just as she began her comeback, Bettie underwent tie-back surgery, a procedure to help her breathe better due to airway paralysis. She ran a few more times after that — enough to remind us of her unstoppable spirit.

Eventually, her back-left suspensory injury — which had severely mineralized from an old, undisclosed injury — made it impossible for her to continue competing. Maddalyn gave her one final run, fully knowing it would be their last. As Bettie ran home from that third barrel, Maddalyn sobbed, the crowd cheered, and Bettie gave everything she had, one last time. 🥹🏁

Her injury caused significant scar tissue and mineralization — often seen in degenerative injuries — but in Bettie’s case, it was clearly from trauma. Still, she carried on with the biggest heart you could ask for.

Despite all of it, we have zero regrets. Bettie gave us everything. She’s now an amazing mom, having had her first foal — a big, beautiful filly by Super Corona — in 2025. She’s currently in foal again — this time to Brother Hayday, the full brother to Hailey Kinsel’s Sister, an NFR legend. 💫

Bettie’s bloodlines — Frenchmans Guy x Pritzi Dash — paired with her incredible heart and legacy make her a priceless part of our breeding program. Her future foals are going to be something special.

Now fully retired, Queen B is living her best life, soaking up love, sunshine, and a whole lot of treats. 👑

Introducing one of the most striking mares in the entire barn — Secret 🔥💎

Secret is breathtakingly beautiful and built like an absolute tank. With her big, correct frame, intelligent expression, and stunning white blaze, she turns heads the second she steps into view. She’s the kind of mare you just can’t help but admire — classy, strong, and full of presence.

She’s sired by the legendary Judge Cash and out of a Firewater Flit mare, which makes her pedigree packed with speed, grit, and proven success in the barrel pen. Around here, we’re big fans of Judge Cash (we have a few in the barn!), but Secret is our very first own daughter — and that makes her extra special.

She’s also our newest addition, so we’re still getting to know her. But first impressions? She’s kind, smart, and full of potential. On her very first day with us, Maddalyn hopped on and took her for a spin — and even without any pushing, running the “wrong” direction (she usually goes left, they went right!), they clocked a solid 3D time against tough competition. That’s no small feat for a brand-new pair!

✨ Due to some disclosed prior injuries, Secret won’t be a main mount on our trailer — but she’ll still make the occasional run, and we know she’ll shine when she does. More importantly, she’ll play a huge role in our breeding program, where we’re so excited to watch her legacy unfold through her foals.

We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to own such a special mare and look forward to seeing her impact on future generations.
