Shadow made her first big choice… but the next one may be even more interesting. 🐍

After leaving her enclosure and crossing the bridge, Shadow began exploring a scent trail I laid out for her. She investigated the first branch, but what happens next is where things get really interesting.

I’m especially curious to see what she does when she reaches the next decision point.

Part 3 coming soon.

Shadow had a choice today. 🐍

I laid a scent trail from inside her enclosure toward the ReptileStation, but first she had to decide whether she wanted to leave her hide at all.

This is Part 1 of a 3-part series. Will she choose to follow the trail?

Different reptiles = different nutritional needs 🥬

Today’s salads included a mix of staple greens with a little added variety and protein depending on the species. Small daily routines like this are a big part of keeping reptiles active, engaged, and thriving.

Part of the daily reptile room routine 🐢🥬

One thing I’ve really enjoyed is learning how different reptiles respond to feeding routines, enrichment, and interaction over time. Scarlett definitely knows when salad time is coming.

These little moments are honestly one of my favorite parts of reptile keeping.

Scout the Ackie monitor is getting more comfortable during feeding, and it’s been really rewarding watching that progression over time.

One of the things I enjoy most about reptiles is earning their trust little by little through routine, consistency, and interaction.

Also learned today that discoids are faster than they look 😂

Title: Morning Reptile Room Check-In 🐍

POV: Morning rounds in the reptile room.

Just checking in on everyone this morning — Shadow hanging out on the Mopani, Scout settling in, and the rest of the crew starting their day. One of my favorite parts of reptile keeping is simply observing their individual behaviors and routines up close.

Meet Shadow: A Snake That Loves to Explore 🐍

Today I placed Shadow into the ReptileStation with a simple orange laundry basket to investigate, climb through, and explore. Watching reptiles interact with new environments and objects is one of the coolest parts of keeping them.

This is exactly why I built Reptile Station — not only to give reptiles safe, supervised space to explore and engage with their environment in a different way, but also to create a more interactive experience for the keeper as well.
