🐾 Meet Leo! 🤎

🤔 Leo’s family sent him (and his pack mates) to join us for one of our recent Ranch Camps, and when he first arrived, he wasn’t entirely sure what to think of us.

💁🏻‍♀️ Leo can be hesitant with new people and a little skittish in unfamiliar situations, so rather than asking too much of him too quickly, we gave him some space to settle in.

☀️ The next morning, we headed out for a hike and incorporated a few simple bonding exercises along the way.

Apparently, that was all Leo needed. 😂

🙌🏼 Little by little, the hesitation disappeared, the walls came down and this sweet boy’s goofy personality came right along with it.

👏🏼 Before long, Leo was comfortable with us, happily exploring the trails and showing us exactly who he is once he decides you’ve earned a spot in his circle.

😊 That’s one of the reasons we don’t expect every dog’s Ranch experience to look the same. Some arrive ready to party. Others need a little time, patience and an opportunity to build trust first.

🐕 We had so much fun getting to know the real Leo during his stay, and judging by that smile, we think he had a pretty good time getting to know us too.

🖤 Happy National Black Dog Day from Corbin! 🐾

Corbin originally joined the All Out K9 family for training and has been coming back to stay with us ever since whenever his family travels. ❤️

🌵 This visit was a little different, though—it was his first trip to the Ranch!

New trails to explore, approximately one million new things to sniff, and plenty of room for an adventure. Judging by that smile, we’d say Corbin was a pretty big fan of the change of scenery. 😂

One of our favorite things about the relationships we build with our clients is getting to know these dogs over the years and continuing to be part of their lives long after training ends.

And we’re pretty sure Corbin can officially add Ranch adventurer to his résumé. 🖤🌵🥾

🐾 Meet Milo!

Milo is just over a year old and recently joined us for training.

Is he a fan of new people? Absolutely not.
Do some dogs p**s him off? Most definitely. 😂
Were we up for the challenge? You bet.

❤️ During Milo’s in-home consultation, we were able to see some of the behaviors concerning his humans, discuss a few others and, most importantly, help explain why they may be seeing them and how we could help.

✂️ We also collected a hair sample for the nutritional panel included with his training program. His results came back before pickup day and allowed us to recommend a simple dietary change to remove identified food sensitivities from his diet.

🌵 Once Milo arrived at the Ranch, we didn’t jump straight into obedience. We started with something more important: building a relationship.

Through bonding exercises, we gave Milo the opportunity to get comfortable with us and establish trust—and this kid surprised us!

For a dog with some serious stranger danger, Milo opened up in record time. He started playing, seeking affection and, once that relationship was established, became incredibly receptive to training.

🐕 That foundation has already allowed us to begin introducing Milo to new people without issue, something we’re incredibly excited about considering where he started.

Are we trying to turn Milo into a dog who loves every person and dog he meets? Nope. That’s not the goal.

We’re teaching him how to navigate those situations appropriately while building his confidence, communication and trust in his handlers. ❤️

To say we’re proud of the leaps he’s made in such a short time would be an understatement.

And Milo doesn’t know it yet…but public outings are coming. 🤣🛒

His training journey is just getting started, and we cannot wait to see what’s in store for this sweet boy. 🐾💙

🌧️ Rainy day? Your dog can still have a busy day! 🐾

When you have a high-energy or high-drive dog, a few days of bad weather can make everyone in the house a little stir-crazy. 😂

Walks, hikes and outdoor adventures are great physical outlets, but exercise isn’t the only way to fulfill your dog. Mental enrichment gives their brain something to do—and you might be surprised how tired a dog can get from actually having to think.

So while Las Vegas and Henderson wait for things to dry out, here are a few indoor games to try:

👃 FIND IT: Have your dog wait in another room while you hide a favorite toy or treat somewhere in the house. Start easy and gradually make the hiding spots more challenging.

📦 BOX SEARCH: Grab a few empty cardboard boxes, place a treat or toy inside one and let your dog use their nose to figure out which box has the prize. Switch locations each round!

🧸 TOY HIDE & SEEK: Teach your dog the name of a favorite toy, hide it, then send them to find and bring it back. Once they understand the game, introduce names for multiple toys.

🧠 SHAPING GAMES: Pick a simple behavior—touching a container with their nose, putting paws on a platform or stepping into a box—and let your dog problem-solve their way to the answer, rewarding each step in the right direction.

🏠 INDOOR OBSTACLE COURSE: Use household items to create a safe course. Go around a chair, crawl under a table, step onto a stable platform or weave between objects. It’s a fun way to combine thinking, body awareness and obedience.

❤️ Mental enrichment doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. A few minutes of problem-solving, scent work and learning can give your dog an incredibly productive outlet—even when Mother Nature cancels the hike.

A tired body needs rest. A fulfilled brain helps create a happier dog. 🐾🧠

💁🏻‍♀️ If you remember Mellow’s introduction, you know this sweet boy came to us scared of just about everything.

New people. New places. New experiences.

Even getting into and out of the truck was a long process. Being asked to approach an unfamiliar person or environment could cause Mellow to retreat and shake uncontrollably.

Today?

Mellow went shopping. 🛒🥹

We’ve reached the socialization and desensitization portion of his training, and while he’s still unsure about plenty of things, we are SO proud of how far he’s come.

🐾 He can confidently walk into a store.
🐾 He can explore an unfamiliar environment.
🐾 Strangers can walk past without him immediately retreating.
🐾 And, as you can see, he can even settle for a moment and take it all in.

Does he love shopping? Absolutely not. 😂 Given the choice, Mellow would probably vote for staying home and playing somewhere familiar.

And that’s okay.

❤️ The goal isn’t to turn him into a dog who loves every person, place or experience. It’s to build enough confidence that unfamiliar things no longer feel quite so scary—and to give him the skills to navigate them successfully.

We work on this with Mellow every day, at a pace he can handle. It has been a slow process because confidence can’t be rushed.

But this boy is putting in the work. 💪

To most people, this might just look like a dog sitting in a chair at a store.

To us, it looks like progress. ❤️

☺️ Meet Coco, our sweet senior adventurer! 💗

This was Coco’s first visit to the Ranch, and although we know this lovely lady pretty well, her mom wasn’t quite sure what she’d think of Ranch life. Coco is laid-back, a bit of a homebody, and very content with the quieter things in life.

🏜️ But once we hit the trails, that smile told us everything we needed to know.

🐾 Coco explored, sniffed and happily wandered her way around the property—and when she decided she’d had enough adventure for one day, she very politely escorted us back inside so she could get some rest.

One of the things we love is being able to let the dogs help guide the experience. Not every dog wants the longest hike or the biggest adventure. We pay attention to what they’re telling us, respect their comfort level and let them show us what their version of fun looks like.

💁🏻‍♀️ For Coco, apparently it’s a little Ranch adventure followed by a well-earned nap. And we fully support that lifestyle. 🙌🏼 😴

🐾 Giving dogs opportunities to explore outside of the home and their everyday routine provides so much more than physical exercise. Different sights, smells, sounds and terrain provide mental stimulation, build confidence, encourage natural behaviors and give them an opportunity to experience the world at their own pace.

🐕 Sometimes the best enrichment doesn’t come in a toy or a treat. Sometimes it’s simply giving them somewhere to sniff, wander and discover.

🌵 And remember, just because you’re not traveling doesn’t mean your dog can’t enjoy a staycation of their own! We still have a few Ranch Camp openings available for October, and our boarding calendar is open through the rest of the year. Whether they’re ready for trails, adventures, new smells or simply a change of scenery, we’d love to have them.

Some stories are worth sharing again.

We originally shared Sadie’s story a while back when she completed our training program but with so many new faces following us today, we thought it deserved another trip around the feed—because she’s a perfect example of why we became so passionate about canine nutrition. ❤️

Behavior doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

A dog experiencing chronic itching, digestive upset or other physical discomfort may have a much harder time settling, focusing and navigating stressful situations. Nutrition isn’t the answer to every behavioral challenge, but sometimes it’s an important piece of the puzzle that gets overlooked.

🌱 As a Clinical Pet Nutritionist, nutritional testing is another tool we can use alongside training. When appropriate, we evaluate potential food and environmental sensitivities and use those results to help guide nutritional choices while working on behavior.

🐕 Sadie traveled all the way from Florida for board and train because of her reactivity toward people outside her family.

After reviewing her nutritional panel, we transitioned her away from identified sensitivities and onto a food better suited to her while continuing to work on trust, obedience, engagement and controlled exposure.

And slowly, Sadie began to open up. ❤️

She bonded with us, became more comfortable on public outings and was increasingly able to focus and work through situations that previously overwhelmed her.

Did she suddenly love everyone? No—and she didn’t need to.

Our goal wasn’t to make Sadie everyone’s best friend. It was to help her safely and calmly coexist in a world full of people she didn’t necessarily want to interact with.

By the end of her stay, we got to do something pretty special:

❤️ We traded Sadie’s red warning collar for a pink one. 🩷

She still had her sassy pants—she is a Malinois, after all. 😂

Stories like Sadie’s are why we believe in looking at the whole dog. Sometimes training is part of the answer. Sometimes nutrition is part of the answer. And sometimes the best progress happens when we recognize there may be more than one piece to the puzzle. ❤️🐾

🐾 STORY TIME! ❤️

When our grandchildren were born, we just assumed they’d be instantly obsessed with dogs. Their home has a few and, well…we have a few too. 🤣

Imagine our surprise when our oldest grandson was not a fan.

He avoided dogs whenever possible and could become scared if one got too close.

Then Benny joined the AOK9 family. ❤️

During one of Benny’s first visits a few years ago, our grandson reluctantly came outside with us for a game of fetch. He kept his distance but watched curiously as we threw the ball and Benny happily brought it back again and again.

Then Benny did something completely ordinary—and somehow changed everything.

🎾 He launched the ball out of his mouth so quickly that our grandson erupted in laughter.

That was it.

Fear turned into curiosity.

Curiosity turned into, “Can I throw the ball?”

And before long, this little boy who had been afraid of dogs was running around with Benny, laughing, throwing the ball and joining the game.

❤️ A friendship was born.

That one interaction changed the way our grandson saw dogs. Today, he loves them. He has dogs at home that he absolutely adores, and being surrounded by our four-legged crew doesn’t faze him anymore.

But whenever Benny comes back for another visit, there’s still a little extra excitement.

And between us?

We’re pretty sure Benny will always be his favorite. 🥹🐾❤️

Sometimes the right dog comes along at exactly the right time.
