🤦🏻♀️ We know… we know. Every summer there are a ton of graphics like this making the rounds on social media.
🥵 If you’re already aware of the dangers of hot ground temperatures, that’s fantastic. But every single year we talk to people who had no idea how hot different surfaces can get. That’s exactly why these reminders are worth sharing.
🤯 One of the biggest surprises for people? Artificial turf.
☀️ The number of people we speak with every year whose dogs suffered burned paw pads from artificial turf would shock you. People who don’t have turf in their own yards may not realize just how hot it becomes under the summer sun.
🤔 And here’s something else to think about…
😕 You may not have artificial turf at home, but does your dog’s service provider? If so, are they monitoring surface temperatures and keeping them safe for paws?
🔥 Unfortunately, every summer we hear from heartbroken owners whose dogs were burned on turf that wasn’t even theirs.
💡 Remember, the safest option during the summer is to keep walks for early morning or after the sun has gone down. If your own yard has concrete or artificial turf, creating a shaded area for quick potty breaks and spraying it down before paw contact can make a huge difference in helping prevent paw injuries and heat-related illness.
🥾 While they may not be everyone’s favorite fashion statement, dog boots have a purpose. The cost of a good pair of boots is far less than an emergency veterinary visit—and far easier on your heart than watching your best friend recover from an injury that was completely preventable. If you must take your dog out on a summer day, you can pick up a pair of boots from our good friends Dog Supplies Outlet Las Vegas and they’ll even help you find the right size.
🙏🏼 Please be mindful of the surfaces your dog walks on and if you see educational posts like this, take a second to like and share them. You never know whose paws you might be helping to protect. 🐾
