Dr Alyssa Watson was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She completed her bachelor’s degree at St Olaf College in Minnesota with a dual major in Chemistry and Ancient Studies. After graduating with honors, she was accepted to Iowa State University and moved back to Iowa to attend veterinary medical school. In May of 2003 she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and began practicing at a mixed animal hospital in Reno, Nevada. Dr Watson worked in Reno for almost seven years before moving to Las Vegas to be closer to family.
Between 2010 and 2021 Dr Watson continued to practice high quality medicine and surgery here in Las Vegas. In addition to clinical practice, in 2015 Dr Watson began working as a medical editor and content creator for the #1 ranked veterinary publication, Clinician's Brief. Dr Watson finds great joy in helping veterinary practitioners all over the world expand their knowledge and expertise by providing them access to cutting edge information, leading specialists, and reliable influencers in the field.
Caring for pets in the clinic for almost 18 years, Dr Watson has been honored to help families through all stages of their pets’ lives, from the first puppy or kitten visit to their final peaceful passage. Her years of experience has led to an understanding of complex disease processes and a recognition of the difficult struggles that many pet-owners face during end-of-life care. Wanting to make this process as peaceful as possible for pets and all those who love them, Dr Watson is joining the team at Nevada Pet Hospice & In-Home Euthanasia to provide each and every pet with individualized, comfortable, and dignified end-of-life care.
