Hearts Alive Village is centrally located in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada, and was f

ounded in 2013 because of an intense need to help save dogs and cats that were losing their lives in an overcrowded shelter system. We learned early that our priority for building resources should target preventing animals from entering the shelter in the first place. We offer several supportive services to families such as a pet food and supplies bank, rehoming for pet owners who have passed away or are unable to continue to care for their pets, training resources, temporary boarding for those experiencing a housing crisis or hospital stay, and low cost spay/neuter. Our most recent resource is an affordable veterinary clinic for families struggling to access care with payment options that fit their budgets for those who cannot qualify for conventional credit.

🚑Summit was found alone on Mt. Charleston and he is filled with rocks. Can you help us save him?🚑

This poor little buddy was found wandering alone in the Spring Mountains. Thankfully he was discovered by a very lovely person who was up there hiking with her dogs. She brought him down and immediately got him into a vet where it was discovered that his entire GI tract is filled with rocks. He recently made his way to us and is undergoing surgery today. His poor skin is also in deplorable condition, he has fractured teeth, and some masses. Despite everything he's been through, he's a sweet little wiggly guy. Can you help donate towards his medical care? This friend has a long journey to health ahead of him, but we know he will reach his Summit. 🏔️

🚨 HYBRID FOSTERS NEEDED! 🚨
We have some seriously cute medium and large dogs who really need a break from shelter life. 💔 They deserve the chance to sleep in a home, decompress, get some one-on-one attention, and just be dogs.

Our Hybrid Foster Program makes that possible! 🏡 These pups spend the majority of their week in a foster home, then come to our Everyday Adoption Center 1+ days a week so they can still meet potential adopters and have a chance to find their forever family.

You don’t have to commit to forever .. you just have to be willing to give a dog a little extra love and a place to land while they wait for their person. ❤️

We know there are a lot of posts right now about dogs who urgently need out. We get it. But please don't scroll past these three.

Lakota, Miracle, and Raditz are three of our longest-term dogs at the Retreat. Our team has poured blood, sweat, tears, patience, training, enrichment, and so much love into these dogs. We've watched them grow, worked through the hard days, and gotten to know the dogs you don't always see behind a kennel door.
And honestly? They don't always present well in a kennel.

Lakota needs structure, continued training, and needs patient first meets with new men. Miracle needs continued socialization with people and will need to be the only dog. Raditz is extremely people-oriented, prefers people over dogs, and has resource guarding around food that will require management. They're all excelling in their training and love to learn.

Our dedicated team will be there every step of the way to help with the transition home and set everyone up for success. Ask about our foster to adopt trial period!

We know these dogs have so much more to give than what you may see in a kennel. We believe their people are out there.

Every pet we help has a story, and behind each one is a team of people who believe every life is worth fighting for. From the furry companions who sit at our feet during long calls and remind us why we do this work, to the rescue dogs we walk, feed, and care for each day, and the clinic dogs who bring comfort and joy to our team and visitors.

Meet Jasmine ❤️
Jasmine, a 5-year-old Pug, came to our clinic after her family noticed she wasn't acting like herself. After an examination, our veterinary team diagnosed her with pyometra, a serious, life-threatening infection of the uterus that requires emergency surgery. Without prompt treatment, pyometra can quickly become fatal.
Like many families, Jasmine's loved ones were suddenly faced with the overwhelming cost of unexpected emergency veterinary care. Our Helpline team worked alongside them to secure financial assistance through Hearts Alive Village and partner organizations, helping make Jasmine's life-saving surgery possible.
Today, we're happy to share that Jasmine is recovering at home with her loving family, right where she belongs. ❤️

Stories like Jasmine's are possible because of a compassionate community and team who believe no family should have to lose a beloved pet simply because emergency veterinary care is out of reach. We have so many wonderful dogs living in kennels. We so desperately want to see them get their happily ever afters. If you can't adopt, can you foster? If you can't foster, can you volunteer to take a doggy on a field trip? Our pups get so much love here, but even with all of their exercise, playgroups, enrichment, and training from our staff - the reality is, these pups all spend a good bit of their day in a kennel.
