I know this is a pretty common issue among breeders and Ive had my share in the past but as of recently Ive been getting a lot of messages and comments lately saying things like "Price?" "How much" "Location" " Just send me prices" "Address" ect... And I'm sure people don't mean anything personal by it, but I find these types of "inquires" very off putting. And so I don't respond to these type of messages as most breeders wont.
I don't use any AI or automated responses neither do the majority of breeders, I personally take the time to individually message people back, share info, pictures, videos, and answer all their questions. It takes hours at a time but I like to make sure people are fully informed prior to making a decision or just have general questions about the Maine C**n breed and our process.
So when people message a breeder and are very, blunt.. or are only interested in the cost of a animal and can't take the time to introduce themselves, tell them what they are looking for and show a genuine interest with their inquire, do they expect that breeder to take their time to send them all their information?
Just like getting a car, applying for a house, or doing an interview theres a appropriate manner in which to go about doing things, the same applies to when you reach out to a breeder about purchasing one of their animals. Saying "Price" or "You want to sell a cat or not" ... these arent a pair of shoes or something, these are living breathing creatures and that is not a good way to convince someone of entrusting you with one of their animals... The home in which a animal lives is the most important thing, making a sale is not.
When someone Introduces theirself, tells me what they are looking for and tells me about the type of home my baby will be going to, that tells me a lot more about that person than anything else.
That being said I'm more than happy to take the time to answer peoples questions, talk over the phone, send information and pictures. But with people that will take the time to at least say, hello and introduce themselves.
