Virtual veterinary care SAVES LIVES!

“Hello,

My cat, Finny, has made a miraculous recovery! He stayed still with rapid, labored breathing for many hours, but calmed. After about 8 hours, he sat up, ate some dry food, and cleaned himself up a bit. After another few minutes, he started walking around. I went downstairs to get his p**p box and bring it up for him but when I turned around he had followed me. He slept soundly on the bed with me and this morning acts like he is fine. I think his breathing is not quite right and will keep him inside and watch him until he hopefully can see the vet tomorrow. I was so certain he was dying and beyond joyful at this outcome.

Shelly is a 15 month old steer from Ellensburg, Washington presenting to VetTriage for bilateral abdominal distention. With live, real-time virtual VetTriage veterinarian guidance and collaboration, the owner had attempted tubing and administering bicarbonate with mineral oil. Passing an ororuminal tube is often the initial step to relieve free-gas bloat or dislodge an esophageal obstruction. And for frothy bloat, antifoaming agents like poloxalene or mineral oil can be administered orally via a stomach tube to aid in relieving the patient’s ailment until in-person bovine veterinary care can be established.
