Is your pet ready? Remember mosquitos spread heartworm disease!
The mosquito population in Las Vegas is set to "explode" due to an incredibly warm winter and early spring, according to UNLV researchers and health officials.
Traps set up by the Southern Nevada Health District are capturing mosquitoes at a rate usually seen in June and July.
"We never had calls in March or February for mosquitoes, but this year we did. We even had some calls in January. I don't see them dying off in the winter anymore..." — Johnny Longhurst, JS Pest Control (38 years in the valley)
