Most dogs don’t struggle because they don’t know commands..
They struggle because they can’t hold themselves together under press.

This was Strawberry & Daiquiri’s first session working outside AND together.

One dog holds Place with duration while the other works through confidence-building on the half-ball and ramp.

We’re building:
• Patience under distraction
• Clear decision-making
• Confidence in unstable environments

Using a mix of luring + leash pressure, we guide the dog through the right choices, then give them the space to hold it.

That’s how you go from Chaos -> Calm

If your dog:
• Breaks commands when things get real
• Can’t settle around other dogs
• Struggles with impulse control

This is where that gets fixed.

Someone stopped me and asked:

“What’s the point in having a trained dog?”

Honestly.. I didn't at first but I do understand why people ask that.

Most dogs today can’t be taken anywhere..
Walks feel stressful.
Distractions feel unpredictable.
Freedom feels risky.

But when your dog truly understands you..

👉🏾One whistle brings him back.
👉🏾One cue and he settles beside you.

No chaos. No guessing. Just calm.

Training isn’t about control. I'd say it’s about peace of mind.

Because the real goal isn’t obedience..

It’s freedom you can trust.
.That’s the point.

A lot of people try to teach a new name by repeating it louder.. or more often.

That’s usually where things go wrong.

You don’t teach the name first.
You teach what the name means.

Here’s the 'Name Game':
✔ wait for disengagement
✔ say the name once (no leash pressure)
✔ mark the moment they choose you ("YES!")
✔ move away and reward engagement
✔ reset and repeat

The goal isn’t recognition.
It’s voluntary attention.

When the name predicts clarity and opportunity, dogs start choosing you – instead of tuning you out.

Engagement FIRST. Everything else follows.

Sometimes a bit of leadership is all they need.

If your dog grabs treats like a land shark 🦈..

It’s usually not bad manners.. it’s too much intensity.

Fix the state of mind.
Most dogs take treats harshly because we accidentally reward intensity instead of calm.

Here’s the reset:
✔️ Hold the treat flat in your palm
✔️ Cover access with your thumb
✔️ Let the dog figure it out
✔️ Wait for ONE soft tongue flick
✔️ Release immediately

No corrections.
No frustration.
Just clear communication.

What the dog learns:
👉🏾 Calm opens doors.
👉🏾 Impulse closes them.

And when that understanding clicks, you don’t just get gentle treat taking..
You get better impulse control everywhere.

Food delivery is training too.

My Yuna 💜 (2-year-old Husky)

When I decided to bring in a second dog as a companion for Hiru, I thought I knew what I was signing up for.

I wanted a dog that would challenge him to grow.

What I actually got was:
• A dog with a dysregulated nervous system
• A monster of leash pulling
• VERY vocal. VERY whiny.
• Couldn’t sit still—paced, circled, pawed, jumped for attention
• Walked directly into my space every time I moved
• Screamed at the sight of another dog and completely lost her $ #÷+!
• A dog that didn’t trust the world.. or the people in it

Quite honestly..
the WORST possible dog 🤣😂

And somehow.. the best decision I could’ve made.

Because she didn’t just challenge Hiru.
She challenged me.
We both had to learn how to be:
• More patient
• More regulated
• More intentional
• Clearer in communication
• Calmer under pressure
• Better leaders, not louder ones

So here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:
👉🏾 A new dog will not fix your current dog.
👉🏾 It will expose the relationship you already have.
👉🏾 It will amplify your structure.. or your lack of it.

Yuna isn’t “there” yet.
But the progress she’s made in just a few months tells me everything I need to know.

Growth doesn’t come from easy dogs.
It comes from the ones that force you to level up.
And she’s doing exactly that. 💜

Stay tuned! 🐕

Does your dog actually understand the release..

Most dogs break commands because their owner never taught a real release.
R***r doesn’t move on ‘RElax’.. ‘REspect’.. ‘REpeat’..
He moves on “Release”.

That’s not obedience.
That’s discipline.

If your dog breaks positions early..
It’s not their fault.
It’s your standard.

Potty training isn’t just about where – it’s about when.

Reward too early, and you reinforce nothing.
Reward too late, and the lesson gets blurry.

Mark the exact moment they finish.
Timing = Clarity. Clarity = Faster Results.

Kennel Etiquette is where leadership starts!

The kennel isn’t punishment. It’s a place to practice self-control.

We don’t open doors for excitement. We wait for calm behavior.

No whining.
No spinning.
No rushing the gate.

Calm mind —> Door opens

And here’s the part most people miss:
“Getting out doesn’t mean GO”

Even after the door opens, we still wait.
No bursting forward.
No dragging energy into the room.

Calm FIRST.
THEN Motion

This teaches dogs a critical life skill:
*Your behavior controls access to freedom

No force, yelling, or bribing.

Just clear rules, consistency, and patience.

If your dog loses their mind every time the kennel opens, let’s fix the mindset before it.
