Ozzy has really struggled to find a home so we are sharing his bio again in hopes that it will catch the eye of someone looking for a dog just like this handsome fella!

Named after the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, this handsome guy has a little rockstar energy of his own.

Ozzy is around 5 years old and the definition of a loyal companion. He's the kind of dog who takes his time getting to know new people, but once you're in his circle, you're in for life. We think he'll be the type of dog who keeps a watchful eye on his family and always wants to know that his people are safe.

Don't let his reserved nature fool you—underneath that cautious exterior is a really great dog. Ozzy has excellent manners when treats are involved. He'll politely offer his paw in exchange for a snack, and his treat-catching skills are nothing short of professional. Toss him a treat and he'll snag it out of the air like a major league catcher who hasn't missed a ball all season.

Ozzy isn't looking to be everyone's best friend on day one. He's looking for his people—the ones willing to give him a little time, a little patience, and a chance to show them what a loyal, loving companion he can be.

Ozzy would do best in a home with no kids, or a home with older (teenage-ish) kids who can respect his boundaries.

His buddy, Sharon got adopted recently. Now its Ozzy's turn! 🐾

If you're looking for a dog who values quality friendships over quantity, Ozzy may be your perfect match. ♥️

Gopher Is Ready for His Soft Landing 🐾
Meet Gopher. ❤️

Gopher is a senior gentleman who is hoping his next chapter will be spent in a home where he can finally relax, feel safe, and be someone's beloved companion.

He's a little wary of people when he first meets them, so he doesn't expect you to be his best friend right away. He's going to need a little patience, a little TLC, and someone willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. But we think that once Gopher realizes he's safe, a sweet boy underneath that cautious exterior is just waiting to be loved.

He's also done well with most of the dogs he's met, so he may enjoy having a canine companion in his new home. 🐶

Senior dogs like Gopher don't need a whole lot. They don't need someone to teach them every trick in the book or take them on endless adventures.

They just need someone who will say, “You've been through enough. Come home.” ❤️

If you think you might be the person Gopher has been waiting for, come meet him at the shelter. He may need a little time to trust you—but we have a feeling he'll be worth the wait. 🐾

GUESS THE BREED CONTEST! 🧬

This little monster is being fostered by our manager, who decided to buy her a DNA test through Embark Vet to find out exactly what this little girl is made of.

Nami is 7 months old, weighs 48 lbs, and is currently classified as “somebody's guess is as good as ours.”

Maybe Husky… Malamute… a little Akita? 🤔 We all want to know!

So we're sending her DNA off to Embark Vet to find out what this girl is ACTUALLY made of!

But before we get the official results, WE WANT YOUR GUESSES! 👇

🎯 GUESS NAMI'S TOP 3 BREEDS!

And we're making it a contest! 🏆

Whoever comes closest to correctly guessing Nami's top 3 breed results will win a prize! 🎉

Drop your top 3 guesses in the comments. You can list them in any order—we're looking for the three breeds that make up the largest percentages of Nami's DNA.

Once her results come in, we'll see who among you has the magical ability to identify the contents of this beautiful little mystery mutt. 😂

Think you can crack the case? 🔎🐕

We'll reveal the DNA results when they arrive, and the winner will be contacted to claim their prize!

May the odds be ever in your favor. 🧬😂

One guess per person, please!

Hey community! ❤️

We have two large sized mama dogs in our care right now who need bigger whelping boxes for their little families!

If anyone has any of these little plastic kiddie pools they can spare, we would love to take them off your hands! We checked around stores in town but haven't found any.

They can be dropped off to us during business hours - Tuesday through Saturday 11am - 4pm.

Thank you!

This is the side of animal sheltering you don't always see.

When Bruce came through our doors, we thought we knew what we were dealing with.

His leg was badly injured, and we were already preparing for the possibility that it would need amputation. We weren't afraid of that. Dogs can live incredible lives on three legs, and we were ready to give Bruce that chance.

Thanks to the amazing team at Las Vegas–San Miguel Veterinary Hospital, Bruce was seen immediately. They made room for him without hesitation, and together we began searching for answers.

Then everything changed.

His x-rays revealed what appeared to be multiple growths in his lungs. His bloodwork suggested significant liver disease and possible prediabetes. The nerves in his injured leg had been damaged beyond repair, leaving him unable to use it. Every step meant dragging his foot across the ground, creating painful sores and open wounds.

And then there was everything else.

His canine teeth were worn nearly flat. His body was covered in old scars. His ears had been cropped so severely that there was hardly anything left.

Bruce had survived so much.

We walked into that appointment determined to fix one problem. Instead, we discovered a lifetime of neglect that no surgery could erase.

This is the reality behind animal sheltering that many people never see.

Sometimes we celebrate adoptions. Sometimes we celebrate rescue transports. Sometimes we celebrate miraculous recoveries.

And sometimes...

Sometimes loving an animal means giving them peace.

Making the decision to humanely euthanize Bruce broke our hearts. But allowing him to continue suffering simply because we wished the outcome were different would have been for us—not for him.

He deserved dignity. He deserved comfort. He deserved to leave this world surrounded by gentle voices, kind hands, and people who loved him, even if we'd only known him for a short time.

That's exactly what he got.

People often ask why shelters need donations or community support.

It's because every animal deserves this level of care.

Before we make life-changing decisions, we invest in diagnostics, X-rays, and bloodwork. We consult with veterinarians. We don't guess. We don't give up easily. We gather every piece of the puzzle so we can make the most compassionate decision possible.

Sometimes that decision leads to a happy ending.

Sometimes it leads to a peaceful goodbye.

Neither is possible without a community that believes every animal matters.

Your support helps us say "yes" to diagnostics. It helps us say "yes" to emergency veterinary care. It helps us give animals like Bruce every opportunity to be helped—and when they can't be helped, it allows us to give them the comfort, dignity, and compassion they deserved all along.

Bruce didn't leave this world alone.

He left knowing kindness.

Thank you to the incredible team at Las Vegas–San Miguel Veterinary Hospital for seeing Bruce immediately and treating him with so much compassion. He truly received MVP treatment, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership.

Rest easy, sweet Bruce. You deserved so much more than the life you were given. We only wish we could have known you sooner. ❤️

🐾 VOLUNTEER SHOUTOUT! 🐾

Meet Tristyn! 💛

Tristyn has been volunteering with us for the past couple of months, and she has already become such a wonderful part of our shelter family! She’s been busy walking dogs, helping at our weekend adoption events, taking the CUTEST pictures, and helping us spread the word about shelter dogs who are looking for their forever homes. 📸🐶

And while all of those things are incredibly helpful, what we appreciate most is the time, care, and enthusiasm she brings with her every time she walks through our doors.

Volunteers like Tristyn make a HUGE difference. Whether it’s taking a dog for a much-needed walk, giving them some extra attention, helping an adopter find their new best friend, or snapping that perfect photo that helps a dog get noticed online — it all matters. ❤️

We are so grateful for the people who choose to spend their free time helping animals in their community. Our shelter simply could not do everything we do without our amazing volunteers!

Thank you, Tristyn, for showing up, pitching in, loving our dogs, and helping us give them the attention they deserve. We appreciate you more than you know! 🥰🐾

Want to become part of the volunteer crew? We’d love to have you! Send us a message, give us a call, or stop by the shelter to learn more! 💕
