The old men got their cages spruced up yesterday. Most of these boys are pretty low energy in terms of spacial use, so they get sturdy huts and multiple rotating hanging options and low fall risks. The 2 extra chunky dwarf boys have been moved into the Critter Nation in hopes that it'll get them to move more 😅 Diets only helped a little.

What does it mean when mom forgot to pick up the main rat food? Enrichment mix meal!

Our foraging mix does actually have some of the staple diets available on the market mixed in too, just not Kalmbach. The rats are always happy to get this as a foraging treat, so as a whole meal is always exciting.

Currently we've got: Science Selective, Oxbow, some Mazuri, salmon and sweet potato dog food, chicken and barley dog food, whole grain cereals, yellow split peas, lentils, green split peas, pearled barley, dried basil, mint, and lemon balm, dried zucchini and cucumber, dried apple, oats, popping corn, veggie pastas, dried kale, a variety of nuts and seeds, mealworms, BSFL, and a whole bunch of other goodies.

Demeter drop is live!!!

Last night Demeter finally popped and had 8 lovely babies. Mom and beans are doing well as of this morning and she's been very happy with her extra treats.

Hoping she passes along some of those chunky Merle spots.
