Canine Transformations Learning Center

Canine Transformations Learning Center Difficult Dog? Transforming problems into positive solutions since 2006. Privates; Workshops; select Classes We focus on results. Four students ONLY.

Canine Transformations expertly works with dogs in distress or chronic/acute stress, which causes reactivity and aggression. We work with the dog from the inside outwardly as an individual, and we also work with the human end of the leash so that a positive relationship and bond can be established. In solving aggression problems we use a seven-equation approach from identifying the issues to relea

sing stress and maintenance of behavior. We work with multi-dog families fighting in a process called acclimate-tolerate-accept or ATA Dog. We work force free - your dog will never be exposed to pain devices of any kind - solid, science-based force free methods are employed with every dog and dog owner. Client coaching sessions range in price for challenging dog issues - always start with a $250 functional assessment; individual sessions then are $110 per session (in packages of 3, 6, and 10 - with 10, 15 and 20% discounts respectively). A Canine Emotional Detox is a part of the assessment IF the dog owner implements it under the direction of their trainer. (goal is to reduce stress so the dog learns faster, retains longer and is a happy learner). Private Puppy Classes (include socialization to people, other dogs, and objects) - can share cost if there are two pups. $75 per session 1.5 hours in length. Focus is on teaching pups to live in real life while giving them breaks that include enrichment - toys, play, intelligence games, problem solving and relaxation. We have Day Training Packages for busy clients - 1 hour; 1/2 day and full day options. 90 minute sessions are $150 (at cTLC or at your home - would add travel expenses); 1/2 day - 3 hours $250; and full day - 6 hours - $350 to be paid in advance. Canine Transformations takes credit cards. You may also purchase a block of day training sessions at discounted prices (3 sessions for 10% discount; 6 for 15% discount; or 10 for 20% discount) Any unused sessions can be refunded within 6 months of purchase. Reactive Dog Classes - "Peaceful Transformations" are held 2X a year - May and August - and run six weeks at $350 per class. Pre-requisites are required. Extended packages are available also:
Board/train - by invitation only - prerequisites, $70 per day one dog; $10 additional per day second dog; $5 to disperse meds per day. Canine Emotional detox (spa and pampering package) - 3 FULL days (72 hours) - for stress release and evaluation - provides a full final analysis that becomes the behavior modification package. $300 - requires boarding. OR do-it-yourself with cTLC behind the scenes and evaluation through video, digital etc. $150. Tellington Touch (Ttouch) programs are available to include a systematic process of bodywork, leading exercises, obstacle coursework to build confidence. They did not start as teachers. They started as listeners.

In a field built on commands and control, they learned to kneel.
To hear the unspoken.
To see the reflection of their own lives in the eyes of the dogs they vowed to protect.

Diane — who as a child drew a line in the gravel to save a dog, and in doing so, began saving herself.

Annie — who found her first proof of love in a German Shepherd’s quiet gaze, and turned a life of rage into a language of healing.

Roman — who felt his father’s anger in his own hands, then chose to lay down the tools of fear and listen to the energetic whisper of a three-legged dog named Ziggy.

These are not stories of perfect methods or unshakable certainty.
They are stories of becoming — of internal shifts that changed everything.

They are maps drawn in the dark, by those who refused to accept that force was the only language.
Who trusted a feeling before they had a framework.
Who learned that to heal an animal, you must first understand how to heal the human spirit.

And the journey isn't over.

On January 9th, the final voice joins this chorus of transformation — a story of radical empathy that will challenge everything you think you know about connection, courage, and the quiet power of presence.

Emerging Minds in Dog Psychology is a series about transformation — not of dogs, but of the people who work with them.

In these voices, you may find permission for your own.
Permission to trust the quiet voice inside.
To draw your own line.
To kneel, listen, and begin again.

Listen to Diane’s story. Hear Annie’s truth. Feel Roman’s shift.
And stay tuned for the powerful conclusion, coming February 9th.

Hear now, a story carved from the soft, red earth of memory.

As we listen, your mind eye will see a brave young girl, wrenching words out of her to protect a dog. Speaking up when her life had taught her being invisible was safer. And it’s there, on that unyielding path, a small voice is first heard. And oh, how it grew. A startling life, that one.

She learned to kneel, and in the eyes of the dogs she worked to save, she saw the reflection of our own tangled humanity; our fears, our resilience, our desperate, wordless love.

This is Diane’s story. A story of unlearning, "be silent or else...".

And in that courageous sound, she found a space.
A space where kinship could take root, deep and abiding.
A fellowship of spirits, spoken and unspoken.

Here, in this story, you can find permission … a gentle, firm permission …to walk into the rooms of your own truths and to meet yourselves there, with all the compassion you offer a trembling, noble creature.

Listen. Just listen.

As we step into the New Year, this brave portrait offers a different kind of hope: the hope found in the the belief that our dogs are not beings to manage, but systems under pressure who deserve to be seen.

This is a story of internal evolution. From a childhood spent "walking on eggshells" and being "seen but not heard," to a fourth-grader drawing a line in the gravel to protect a dog named Lady, this reflection traces a lifelong journey of unlearning force to find attunement. She explores the painful tension of a career started in a world of "jerks and shocks," and the quiet courage it took to instead build a "science that listens".

This is not a "how-to" guide. It’s a "why-to" conversation, one that will resonate to anyone advocating for the dog's by our side.

It is an honest look at the conflict of the toolbox, the weight of professional expectations, and the raw beauty of sitting in grief.

Emerging Minds

There is a rhythm to a life lived with dogs. A heartbeat found not in years, but in the space between grief and recovery.

It begins with a young girl and hearing a silent plea: Help me.

A first grief witnessed.
A first recovery, a promise: We’ll disappear forever.

And from there, the rhythm took hold in a lesson that echoed through decades, through parrots and bunnies, through certifications and quiet rooms. It pulsed in the companionship of dogs, who sat inside each new loss, teaching that recovery is not moving on but being accompanied.

This is a powerful story of every heart that has ever been broken and repaired by a quiet presence at its side. A story of a reciprocating cycle.

We grieve, they stay.
They leave, we remember.

And in the remembering, we learn how to love the next one, and the next, until the rhythm itself becomes the wisdom.

Tomorrow, we offer you Diane Garrod’s life—a single, beautiful score written in that timeless, canine metronome. And in this story you may find your own reflection, and insights into your own struggles. A timeless gift for your heart.

As promised today starts the first conversation of the Emerging Minds audio series:

Listening to the silence within, to hear the dog's truth.

**Emerging Minds in Dog Psychology - Annie Phenix

What if the key to understanding a dog lies in understanding our own past?

This is the story of Annie Phenix. From a traumatic childhood in Texas where a dog was her "first proof of love," to a career built on dominance, and finally to a breakthrough that changed everything. Annie discovered that her hypervigilance—a survival tool from a dysfunctional family—was the very skill that allowed her to truly hear what dogs were communicating. She saw her own desire for agency mirrored in the animals she trained, and her journey from control to partnership will change how you see your own dog.

This is not a "how-to" guide. It's a "why-to" conversation.

It’s about rage, healing, burnout, and the hard-won wisdom that to help a dog feel safe, you must first know what safety feels like yourself.

This conversation uncovers the personal history that forged her wisdom, tracing a path from a "southern gothic" childhood, where anger was her only armor, to becoming a leading voice for vulnerability, play, and trauma-informed healing—for both people and the dogs who save them.
