Our hearts are breaking for sweet Maudie, but we promised her we would find her the perfect new beginning. 💔

At just 7 months old, this gorgeous, brindle-colored Pit Bull mix recently arrived at Lander Pet Connection because her previous owner had to move out of town and sadly could not take her along.

Maudie is the definition of a "good girl." She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and already has the best manners for a puppy.

If you are looking for a loyal companion to grow with your family, she is the absolute perfect fit!

🐾Today is , and we have the sweetest update to kick off your weekend! 🐾

Remember Oli?! Our precious bottle-baby kittens, pictured here with one of his incredibly dedicated foster caretakers.

Thanks to round-the-clock love and care, from multiple fosters, this little guy is growing stronger by the day.

He is officially transitioning to soft food and developing a vibrant, spunky personality that brings endless smiles to everyone at the shelter.

It turns out that others fell in love with him just as quickly as we did!

Oli completely captured the hearts of his visitors, and we are absolutely thrilled to share that he has already been adopted!

Once he gets a little bigger and stronger, he will be hitting the road to travel to his new home and meet his forever family. 🚗❤️

While Oli's future is officially secured in a wonderful forever home, we have many other amazing animals still waiting to meet their new family.

🚨 MISSING CAT: HELP US FIND DENNIS 🚨

Lander Pet Connection is helping a local family search for their missing cat, Dennis.

He went missing in the general area around Lander Middle School.

His family is very eager to bring him home, and his dog companion is noticeably sad and looking for him around the house.

Because Dennis is unneutered and not microchipped, he may be hiding quietly nearby or wandering.

We are asking neighbors in the area to please check their properties.

📍 Last Seen: Near Lander Middle School (755 Jefferson St)
🎂 Age: Almost 1 year old (Intact male, not microchipped)
🎨 Appearance: Distinctive vibrant orange eyes and a very fluffy tail (the fluff is more noticeable in person than in his picture).

How You Can Help:
* 🚗 Check under vehicles and inside wheel wells.
* 🏚️ Look inside open garages, sheds, porches, and crawlspaces.
* 🌲 Scan bushes and low tree branches.

🐾 Is Your Pet an Escape Artist? - Let’s Work Together to Keep Them Safe! 🐾

We want to talk about something incredibly exhausting and stressful: caring for a pet who is an "escape artist".

If you are currently overwhelmed, or feeling defeated, and thinking about surrendering your pet because they keep getting out, please take a deep breath. You are not alone, and you are not failing as a pet owner.

Unfortunately in all communites, including Lander, this is a very frequent issue and we hear from frustrated pet owners almost every day who are dealing with the exact same thing.

While it is terrifying when a pet roams, escaping is a behavioral challenge - not a reason to say goodbye to your furry family member.

With a few practical precautions, you can secure your environment and help your pet feel content staying home.

🏡 Quick Tips to Reinforce Your Yard :

For Jumpers:
Add lean-in extensions or "coyote rollers" to the top of your fence to stop them from getting leverage.

For Diggers:
Bury chicken wire or line the bottom of your fence line with heavy landscaping rocks.

Clear the Perimeter:
Move trash cans, firewood piles, or patio furniture away from the fence so they can't be used as launchpads.

Double-Check Gates:
Install self-closing latches and keep them locked.

🐕 Quick Tips to Help Your Pet :

Banish Boredom:
Pets often escape because they are lonely or bored. Increase daily exercise and use mental puzzle toys to tire them out.

Supervise Yard Time:
Avoid leaving your pet unattended outside for long stretches.

Create a Safe Zone:
Utilize a secure, covered outdoor kennel or keep them safely indoors when you are away.

ID is Key:
Ensure they are microchipped and wearing a collar with up-to-date tags.

⚡ Quick Tips to use Electronic Training Collars :

An electronic training collar (or e-collar) can be a highly effective boundary tool when paired with proper training, but it should never be used as a standalone quick fix.

Invest in Training:
Use the collar to reinforce boundaries, teaching your pet where the safe zones end.

Start with Vibrations:
Utilize the tone or vibration settings first to get your pet's attention before using static stimulation.

Consistency is Key:
Pair the collar with positive reinforcement, rewarding your pet for staying away from the fence line.

Check the Fit:
Ensure the collar is fitted correctly and comfortably, and never leave it on for more than 12 hours a day to prevent skin irritation.

If your little “escape artist” does get loose, please DM us immediately. We can post your pet's information on our social media pages to help reunite you as quickly as possible.

If your pet is brought in as a Lander Police Department (LPD) intake, we will immediately scan for a microchip. If a chip is found, we will use that information to contact you directly so you can come pick up your animal.

Please note: Because our shelter operates as a nonprofit, animals brought into our facility will incur a processing fee and a daily boarding fee.

These fees directly offset the cost of care and housing, ensuring our limited shelter funds can continue to support adoptable animals in need.
