📚🐴 Back to School, GMTRC Students! 💙

A new school year means new routines, new challenges, new things to learn—and we're so excited to cheer our students on every step of the way!

We're especially proud of the students who walk through our barn doors after a long day at school and still greet their horses with a smile. We know those days can be tiring, and we see the effort it takes to keep showing up, trying new things, and giving your best.

As the school year settles into a rhythm, we hope those routines bring opportunities for productive learning both in the classroom and in the arena. And when school feels like a lot, we're here to help make the barn a place to breathe, connect, learn, and have a little fun, too. 💙

To all of our students: we believe in you, we're rooting for you, and we're so excited to see what this year brings!

Here's to a wonderful school year filled with growth, discovery, confidence, and plenty of reasons to smile. You've got this! 🍎✨

💙 Because of Mary

Sometimes, the most powerful way to understand the impact of a person is to listen to the people who know and love them best.

At Mary’s birthday celebration, her mom shared a speech inspired by a blog post she and her husband wrote called “Because of Mary.” In it, she reflects on the many ways she feels blessed to be Mary’s mom—and the countless ways Mary has shaped, challenged, encouraged, and enriched the lives of the people around her.

We’d love for you to hear her story for yourself. Take a few minutes to watch the video and listen to the beautiful words she shared about her daughter. 🎥

And as we celebrate Mary, we’re reminded that every one of our students leaves an impact far beyond the arena. They teach us, challenge us, make us laugh, inspire us, and invite us to see the world a little differently. Their lives touch instructors, volunteers, families, friends, and an entire community.

So now we'd love to hear from you:

Because of [student’s name]... 💙

Who is a GMTRC student who has made a difference in your life? Maybe they taught you something, inspired you, made you smile, or changed the way you see possibility.

Share their story in the comments and help us celebrate the incredible ripple effect of our students. ✨

🍂 Fall Cleanup Day at GMTRC! 🧹🐴

There’s something pretty special about watching a whole team come together with a shared goal: making our barn an even better place for our horses, students, volunteers, and families.

Our Fall Cleanup Day was a BIG one! From the indoor arena to the pastures and gardens, our team tackled projects all across the property.

✨ Walls, windows, doors, and floors got a deep clean.
🌳 Tree limbs were trimmed and grounds tidied.
🔨 Stall ledges were repaired and replaced.
🧽 The volunteer room, toy room, office, and grooming supplies got some much-needed TLC.
🌱 Gardens were refreshed and fence lines fortified.
🏇 The round pen found a new home, and the outdoor arena got some attention, too!

A huge thank-you to our team leads—Terri, Troy, Emily, Bob, Forrest, Josh, Kara, Sam, Vicki, Mary, Katie, Steph, and everyone else who jumped in and got to work. But more than anything, we're grateful for the whole team effort that made such a long list of projects possible in one day!

Some jobs may not be glamorous, but they're all part of creating a safe, welcoming, well-maintained place where our horses can do their jobs and our students can thrive.

We're pretty proud of what this crew accomplished together. 💙

🎉 That’s a Wrap on Student Appreciation Week! 💙🐴

What a fun week celebrating the incredible students who make GMTRC such a special place!

Our students got in on the fun all week long with games and activities—including guessing how many horse cookies were in the jar, reaching into our mystery boxes to see what they could identify by touch, and casting their votes for which instructor should get pied in the face. 👀🥧

They also received some special reminders of just how appreciated they are, including thank-yous from their teams and horses, certificates of appreciation, and a few fun horsey goodies to take home. 💙

And we loved getting to know our students a little better through their Polaroid photos and info cards! If you've been following along on our board at the barn, you may have noticed a few trends: pizza is clearly a favorite, and dogs and cats are the reigning animal champions. 🍕🐶🐱 But when it comes to favorite vacations, music, hobbies, and all the other things that make our students *them*, there was plenty of wonderful variety!

If you're at the barn this week, be sure to take a few minutes to read through the board and meet some of the amazing people who make up our GMTRC community. You might discover something you didn't know about a familiar face!

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for...

🥁 Steph received the most votes in our instructor pieing poll!🥧

Which means she will be getting pied in the face at our Annual Horse Show on September 19! 😂

Come out to the Horse Show, cheer on our students, enjoy the festivities, and witness Steph getting pied in the face. You won't want to miss it!

Thank you to every student who participated, played along, shared a little more of themselves, and let us celebrate YOU this week. We are so grateful you're part of our herd. 💙

💙 Student Appreciation Week – Day 5: Being Yourself 🐴

As we wrap up Student Appreciation Week, we're celebrating one final thing we love about our students: you.

Every student who walks through our barn doors brings something unique to our community. Different personalities, different strengths, different goals, different journeys—and every one of them matters. Our horses don't ask anyone to be someone they're not. They simply invite each person to show up, be present, and grow. We think that's a pretty beautiful lesson.

Jon brings his whole personality to the barn—and we wouldn't want it any other way. With his big personality, quick smile, and genuine excitement for all things cowboy, he's often the first to welcome someone new and make them feel like they belong. Just as importantly, Jon has a wonderful way of accepting people exactly as they are, reminding us that there's room for everyone to be themselves at GMTRC. 🤠💙

To every student and family who chooses to be part of the GMTRC herd, thank you. Thank you for trusting us, for caring so deeply for our horses, for celebrating one another, and for making this community one marked by courage, kindness, joy, and belonging.

This week may be coming to a close, but our appreciation for you never will. We are honored to be part of your journey, and we can't wait to see all the ways you'll continue to grow.

💙 From all of us at GMTRC, thank you for being exactly who you are.

🌟 Student Appreciation Week – Day 4: Joy 🐴

Today, we're celebrating something our students bring with them every time they come to the barn: joy.

Joy isn't just found in the biggest accomplishments—it shines through in shared laughter, happy nickers from a favorite horse, high-fives after a challenge, and the excitement of discovering something new. Our students remind us that learning is meant to be celebrated, and their enthusiasm has a way of lifting the spirits of everyone around them, both two-legged and four-legged.

Recently, Iann discovered a new favorite activity: racing through the barrel pattern with a huge smile and a very enthusiastic “GO!” His excitement was contagious, and hearing him use his voice so freely in the moment brought an extra-big smile to everyone on his team. 💙

The joy our students bring helps make GMTRC a place where confidence grows, friendships flourish, and every milestone—big or small—is worth celebrating. We are so grateful for the laughter, excitement, and bright moments they bring to our barn each week.

💙 We'd love to hear from you! What moment at GMTRC has brought you joy? Share a favorite memory in the comments so we can celebrate together.

💛 Student Appreciation Week – Day 3: Kindness 🐴

Today, we're celebrating one of the qualities that shines so clearly in our students: kindness.

Kindness is woven into every part of their time at GMTRC. It shows up in the gentle hands they use when grooming a horse, the encouraging words they offer to a peer who is trying something new, the patience they show when a skill takes time to learn, and the care they take to make sure their horse feels safe and understood. These simple, thoughtful actions may seem small, but they reflect the heart of who our students are and how they choose to show up for each other and the horses they work with.

One of our unmounted groups reminds us that kindness is more than a gentle touch. As these ladies work through challenges with their horses, they offer loving pets, encouraging words, and clear directions—always taking the time to help their partners understand and succeed alongside them. 💛

We are continually inspired by the kindness our students demonstrate in every session, and we are so proud of the compassion they bring into the arena each week.

💙 Thank you for being such thoughtful, caring learners and for making every moment at GMTRC meaningful.

🐴 Student Appreciation Week – Day 2: Partnership 💙

One of the things we love most about our students is the way you build true partnerships with our horses.

Partnership isn't about being perfect—it's about learning to listen, communicate, and grow together. Every lesson is a conversation built on trust, patience, and mutual respect. As our students learn to understand their horse partners, our horses learn to trust them in return, creating connections that are as meaningful as they are transformative.

Our Silver Saddles students have experienced firsthand what can happen when horse and human truly work as a team. As they learn to lead from a place of partnership and connection, we've watched them accomplish things together they never thought they could—and discover confidence they didn't know they had.

These moments remind us that some of life's greatest lessons are learned alongside a horse.

Now we'd love to hear from you! What's a favorite moment of student-horse partnership you've witnessed at GMTRC? Share your story in the comments—we'd love to celebrate those special connections together. 💙

🎉 Happy Student Appreciation Week! 🎉

This week, we're celebrating the incredible students who make Greystone Manor TRC such a special place.

Every day this week, we'll be highlighting one thing we appreciate about our students—the qualities that make our barn community stronger, our horses' jobs so meaningful, and our hearts so full.

💙 Day 1: Your Courage

Courage doesn't always look loud. Sometimes it's trying something new, getting back on after a difficult moment, asking for help, or choosing to believe in yourself one more time.

At GMTRC, we see that courage every day. Whether you're meeting a horse for the first time, practicing a new skill, or taking on a challenge that once felt impossible, your willingness to keep growing inspires all of us.

Grace, like many of our students, has faced her share of challenges—from learning to work with different horses to experiencing the occasional tumble. Through it all, she continues to show up, try again, and meet each new challenge with courage and determination. 💙

Thank you all for showing us what courage looks like. We're so grateful you're part of our herd.
