This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive โ€” like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way โ€” offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply โ€” to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿพ Halloween Pet Safety Tips!๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽƒ

Halloween is full of costumes, candy, and spooky fun, but we want to make sure our furry friends stay safe, too! ๐Ÿ’—

Here are a few ways to keep your pets happy and healthy this Halloween:

๐Ÿซ Keep the candy out of reach! Chocolate, sugar-free candy containing xylitol, and other sweets can be dangerous for pets.

๐ŸŽƒ Be careful with decorations. Keep pets away from lit candles, electrical cords, glow sticks, and decorations they might chew or swallow.

๐Ÿพ Choose costumes carefully. Make sure your petโ€™s costume fits comfortably, allows them to move and breathe normally, and doesnโ€™t restrict their vision.

๐Ÿšช Watch the front door. Trick-or-treaters can mean lots of opening and closing doors. Keep pets in a secure, quiet room to prevent escapes and reduce stress.

๐Ÿ— Skip the table scraps. Halloween treats are for people! Stick to pet-safe treats to avoid an unexpected trip to the vet.

๐Ÿท๏ธ Make sure ID tags are current. With doors opening more often, updated ID tags and microchip information can help bring a lost pet home.

๐Ÿ‘ป Know when to call for help. If your pet eats chocolate, sugar-free candy, or another potentially toxic item, contact your veterinarian promptly.

We hope you and your pets have a spook-tacular and safe Halloween! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

๐Ÿพ Question of the day: What is your pet dressing up as for Halloween? Share their costume ideas or photos in the comments! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) โ€” professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. ๐Ÿ’™

Because every patient is somebody's pet โ€” and they deserve nothing less than the best.

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿพ Fall Walk Checklist! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‚

Cooler temperatures mean more fun fall walks with our furry friends! But before your pet gets too cozy on the couch, take a quick look after outdoor adventures. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

๐Ÿ Check for ticks โ€“ Ticks can still be active during the fall months!
๐ŸŒฟ Look for burrs & plant material โ€“ Check fur, ears, between toes, and around the tail.
๐Ÿพ Inspect those paws โ€“ Remove mud, leaves, or debris caught between the toes.
๐Ÿ˜ฅ Check for irritated paws โ€“ Look for redness, tenderness, swelling, or anything unusual.
๐Ÿ”Ž Give them a quick once-over โ€“ A few extra minutes of checking can help catch little problems before they become bigger ones!

And remember: flea and tick prevention is still important in the fall! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ These pesky parasites don't necessarily disappear just because summer is over.

How does your pet feel about fall walks? ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ• Share a photo of your favorite walking buddy in the comments!

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿพ Happy First Day of Fall! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‚

Pumpkin spice, cozy blankets, colorful leaves, and cooler days are here! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ As we welcome fall, itโ€™s a great time to remember that the season brings a few changes for our pets, too.

๐Ÿถ Cooler weather means walks may be more enjoyable, but keep an eye out for chilly temperatures as the season progresses.

๐Ÿ‚ Fallen leaves, acorns, mushrooms, and other outdoor items can be tempting for curious pets. Keep an eye on what your pet sniffs, chews, and eats!

๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ Donโ€™t forget about flea, tick, and heartworm prevention! Parasites are still active during the fall months, so staying consistent with prevention is important.

๐ŸŽƒ And with Halloween right around the corner, keep candy, decorations, and other seasonal goodies safely out of paw's reach.

What is your petโ€™s favorite part of fall? ๐Ÿ๐Ÿพ Share a picture of your fall loving pets in the comments!
