Two years ago, I was making a post about Katlynn Bull heading off to Tarleton. Now somehow it’s Shelbie Bull’s turn. 😭❤️

If you’ve been around HB Services for a while, you’ve probably met Shelbie or seen her helping with pet sitting bookings. She has been working alongside me since I started my business in 2021, and this fall she’ll be heading off to college to pursue a Business degree with hopes of one day opening her own bakery someday. 🧁✨

Many of our clients have watched my sisters grow up over the years, and I know Shelbie has loved getting to know so many of you and your pets along the way. As she prepares for dorm life, we’ve put together an Amazon registry with some of the items she’ll need for her first year away from home. If anyone would like to help her get started on this exciting new chapter, I’ll be linking it below. Every gift, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will help make her transition to college a little easier. Of course, there is absolutely no obligation, sharing a kind word or wishing her luck means a lot too. ❤️

We need our community right now.

Our shelter is currently operating well over capacity with nearly 90 animals in our care and over 50 dogs alone. Staff is exhausted, we are short staffed while training a new team member, and we are doing everything we possibly can to avoid having to make difficult outcome decisions for animals. But we cannot do this alone anymore.

Here’s how you can help RIGHT NOW, in order of urgency:

🐶 1. PUPPY FOOD
We urgently need dry puppy food. Preferably Purina Puppy Chow or Pedigree Puppy.
We just poured our LAST bags into the food container today.

🏡 2. ADOPT
This is our biggest long-term solution.
We need dogs moving into permanent homes. Every adoption opens lifesaving space for the next animal coming through our doors. We currently have NO room for incoming dogs and summer dumping has hit us hard.

We have amazing dogs waiting for homes and many have been overlooked far too long.

❤️ 3. FOSTER TO ADOPT
We are allowing foster-to-adopt on all available dogs. We are strongly encouraging foster-to-adopt or full adoption over short-term fostering, but we will absolutely accept fosters for some of our longer-term dogs who just need a break from the shelter environment.

📲 4. SHARE OUR POSTS
Please do not underestimate how important this is.
Staff has been taking pictures, making videos, posting across multiple sites, and trying everything we can to get these animals seen. Sharing our posts helps more than people realize.

We also need our community to understand that there may be limits on how quickly we can take in animals due to space and staffing. We are trying to avoid making impossible decisions by not allowing ourselves to become even more overcrowded than we already are.

This summer has been especially difficult with multiple dogs being dumped in the middle of nowhere, many of them never reclaimed. Every intake adds strain to an already overwhelmed system.

The shelter is trying. Our staff is trying.
Now we need our community to step up with us.
