🦇 Rabies Alert in Colorado 🦨

A bat in Colorado recently tested positive for rabies, serving as an important reminder to make sure your pets are protected.

Rabies is most commonly found in wildlife such as bats and skunks, and exposure can happen more easily than many pet owners realize.

❓ Is your dog up to date on their rabies vaccine?

Cats are important to vaccinate against rabies as well. Even indoor cats can be exposed to rabid wildlife that may enter the home or if your cat gets outside - making rabies vaccination an essential part of keeping them protected.

These beautiful British Shorthairs visited our cardiologist, Dr. Geri Lake-Bakaar, today for HCM screening.

HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) is the most common heart disease in cats and can develop without any obvious signs. Screening with an echocardiogram helps detect changes early, monitor at-risk cats, and support responsible breeding decisions.

Isa, a deaf white pitbull adopted in September 2024, was referred to EVS by Edgewater after suddenly developing recurring 105+ degree fevers, lethargy, bloody stool, and other concerning symptoms. Since then, her family has worked closely with multiple departments at EVS to help find answers and keep Isa feeling her best.

Her family shared kind words about so many members of our team including Dr. Fink in Internal Medicine, Dr. Lake-Bakaar in Cardiology, Dr. Thyen in ER, Brady, Jackson, Emily, and especially Ashe — lovingly known as “Isa’s BFF.” 🐾

From Vermont back to Colorado — and straight into leadership at EVS 💙

Meet Jennifer, one of the many incredible RVTs helping keep EVS running behind the scenes. Her days are nonstop: running CTs, assisting with scopes, writing histories, managing estimates, and helping patients from the moment she clocks in.

One case she’ll never forget was a 20-year-old pup named Lucky. Despite severe GI disease, Lucky’s perseverance — and his family’s determination to do everything possible for him — left a lasting impact on her.

Jennifer says one of the best parts of EVS is the collaborative environment and constant opportunity to learn and grow. She’s even expanded her skills into procedures like arthrocentesis since joining the team.

Her go-to fuel for busy shifts?
