We are excited to welcome Dr. Erin Bax-Melgren DACVIM (Cardiology) to the EVS team and to announce cardiology availability Mon-Fri starting November 1!
About Dr. Bax-Melgren:
Dr. Erin Bax-Melgren grew up in the Kansas City area and is excited to begin the next chapter of her career in Denver, where she can be closer to family and enjoy Colorado's incredible hiking, mountain scenery, and vibrant food scene. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri in 2021 before completing a specialty internship in cardiology at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in 2023. She remained at Red Bank to complete her cardiology residency, finishing her training in July 2026.
Erin enjoys all aspects of veterinary cardiology, from helping pets and their families navigate chronic heart disease to performing advanced interventional procedures. Her special interests include pulmonary hypertension and minimally invasive interventions such as patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closures and pacemaker implantation. She is passionate about combining advanced diagnostics, evidence-based medicine, and compassionate communication to help her patients have the best possible quality of life.
Outside the hospital, Erin enjoys hiking and hopes to one day summit all of Colorado's fourteeners. She also loves exploring new restaurants and cuisines. At home, Erin has two cats—Finnegan, who has a knack for eating bugs and paper, and Sage, a fearless little adventurer—and a husband, who shares her love of hiking and the outdoors. She is excited to become part of the Denver veterinary community and care for pets throughout the region.
