Clover is working on vehicle safety!

For service dog teams, safety starts before the journey even begins. Clover is learning the skills needed to navigate vehicles safely and confidently as part of the real-world training that prepares service dogs for life alongside their handlers.

At Domino Service Dogs, we work on the practical skills that help our teams build confidence, independence, and safe working partnerships.

Every skill matters. Every practice session builds toward the bigger picture.

Domino Service Dogs has been breaking down barriers to service dog ownership since 2012, empowering people with disabilities to train their own service dogs with professional guidance and support.

Training Tip Tuesday: Comfort > Costumes 🐾

While cute costumes are everywhere this season, your dog’s comfort and safety should always come first. Restrictive or heavy outfits can quickly cause dangerous overheating or severe emotional distress.

Before putting on apparel, know what to look for! Remove the outfit immediately if you see any of these warning signs:

👀 Whale eye (wide eyes showing the whites)

🧊 "Freezing" or refusing to move

🥵 Heavy panting when not hot or active

A festive bandana or a lightweight collar accessory is often a much safer, stress-free way to include your pup in the fun! ❤️

Sometimes, a dog changes more than a day. A dog can change a life.

At Domino Service Dogs, we believe people with disabilities deserve the opportunity to experience the independence, confidence, and partnership that a trained service dog can bring.

But getting there takes more than a dog and a vest. It takes training, support, and a community willing to help break down barriers to service dog ownership.

That’s what we do. That’s why we do it.

Domino Service Dogs — by, for, and with people with disabilities.

Help us spread the word. Share this post and help more people discover what’s possible.

Look who we found at the farmers market! Team Joy is out enjoying the community and putting those service dog skills to work.

Farmers markets are great opportunities to practice navigating crowds, ignoring distractions, maintaining good manners, and staying focused on their handler.

At Domino Service Dogs, we train for real life because independence means being able to participate in the places and activities that matter to you.

Way to go, Team Joy!

Team Tonka was out and about in downtown Denver!

Every outing is an opportunity to build confidence, practice good manners, and strengthen the skills that make a reliable service dog. From busy sidewalks to the sights and sounds of the city, Tonka is learning to navigate the real world alongside their handler.

At Domino Service Dogs, we believe service dogs earn their place in public through their behavior, training, and partnership with their handlers.

One team, one outing, one step closer to greater independence.
