Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was that well-trained dog you met at the park. You have to lay the foundation brick by brick!

A helpful snippet from Teddys first long-format video update for his family. Leash walking is a harder skill to maintain (inconsistency will cause dogs to revert back post training!), but it’s absolutely worth learning the ins and outs because walking politely on leash is such an important skill!

We are looking for ONE motivated dog owner who is able to commit to a weekly training program, at no cost to them (except, they must buy the prescribed training equipment). There is a catch.

The dog/owner team must meet the following criteria:

- No prior training with Up N Atom. New clients only.

- dog must be over 6 months of age and cannot be exhibiting major behavior issues (fear, aggression, high levels of reactivity, stranger danger, etc)

- owner must be available to come to our facility on Tuesdays at 9:30am for five consecutive weeks — timeliness matters here — for approximately 1-1.5 hours each week

- MUST be able to commit to training the dog each and every day in between sessions

- no reschedules

- dog should be relatively food motivated

- owner must be physically capable of training their dog utilizing a 15 foot long line, strong enough physically to apply the proper techniques, and should be aware that we will be utilizing a combination of positive reinforcement and corrections

This series is being given away as it will be observed by our entire staff as an opportunity to help further their education. This means we will be discussing what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and there may be time spent in discussions and asking questions. If being watched by numerous people while you learn new skills makes you want to die a little inside, applying isn’t recommended 😉

Interested parties should email [email protected] with detailed information about their dog, and lifestyle. Please give a complete history for us to go over.. chosen dog/owner team will be notified by next week!

Note: this series will be an on leash program, taught by Shaina, going over very specific criteria. It’s a great starting point, but will not result in off leash reliability and will not utilize an ecollar. This is not a custom program and we will not be able to spend time going over additional skills or concerns.

A well behaved dog doesn’t happen by accident. In Ohio, the stakes are high and it’s important to be aware that owners are now truly being held responsible for their dogs behavior. Train your dog, enact management techniques to keep you, your dog, and your community safe, and when in doubt, hire a dog trainer to help before an incident occurs.

If you own a dog and live in Ohio, do you know about Avery's Law?

Ohio's updated dangerous dog law affects all dog owners, regardless of breed. Understanding the new rules and your responsibilities can help protect both your community and your pet.

🐾 Just shy of FOUR YEARS. 🐾

You know what’s crazy? I’ve lived 4 out of the 5 years of my life at the Euclid Animal Shelter.

Four years. This kennel has been my home for almost my entire life.

But when people ask about my family? I actually have a pretty big one. ❤️

My volunteers. My trainers. Everyone who visits me, works with me, cheers for me, shares my posts and loves me. If you love me, you’re automatically family. And for a “homeless” dog, I sure do have a whole lot of family.

I love them just as much as they love me, and I’m incredibly grateful for every single one of them.

But you know what I really want?

I don’t want to be homeless anymore.

I want a family of my very own. But after almost four years, we aren’t looking for just any home. We’re looking for the RIGHT home.

I’m a commitment. I’m not the kind of dog who’s going to be perfectly content lying around the house all day doing absolutely nothing. 😂 I need someone who wants to work with me, continue my training, give me structure and take me on adventures.

Basically… structured chaos is my jam.

Okay, fine. Chaos is my jam. 🤪 But my trainers say the “structured” part is important, so we’ll go with that.

Almost 500 of you follow my journey. That’s 500 people who know my face, know my story and know how badly I want this.

Surely somebody knows somebody. Maybe my person isn’t following this page yet. Maybe they’re a friend, a coworker, a neighbor or someone you haven’t thought to tell about me.

Please keep sharing me. Keep talking about me. Help my story reach the person who is looking for a dog exactly like me.

Four out of five years of my life in a shelter is crazy.

I’ve got an incredible family behind me already. ❤️

Now I’m just waiting for the family who gets to finally take me HOME. 🏡🐾

Can Norris live with another dog?

Most likely, but only with the RIGHT dog and the RIGHT owner. He’s not dog aggressive, he’s just overstimulated and hasn’t had much dog experience in his 3.5 years at Euclid Animal Shelter. We’ve been slowly introducing him to other dogs but keeping it low-key, and today I let him get a bit more wild with my malinois Viscera. She’s pushy and can stand up for herself, and they did well during their “date” as long as I prevented him from trying to mount her 😂

Norris is cat safe per Euclid Pet Pals and loves people. He has training and comes with a free board and train. He is NOT a good fit for a household that is unwilling to use prescribed training equipment, that doesn’t want to spend a lot of time teaching him right from wrong, or someone who will let him push them around. Not because he’s mean, but because he’s a goofball who can go over the top fast and get himself into trouble.

We LOVE Norris. Let’s find him the right person.
