On 9/1/2025, we saw a post about a dog who had been in the shelter for 900 days and decided to do something about it.

Norris came to daycare three days a week for over a year. We taught him skills, took him on hikes, introduced him to a dock diving pool, helped him learn how to make dog friends, treadmill trained him, and gave him appropriate outlets. And over a year later, we finally found him a foster home so he could finally learn what it’s like to be a house dog.

Norris gets a lot of the spotlight, and his story has touched so many. But there are so many other dogs in his position. We’ve adored the ones we’ve met — Some have found happy endings in forever homes, a few are in foster, and others are still waiting for their moment.

Today we received the SWEETEST gift from Euclid Pet Pals today with the names of each of the dogs we’ve had here. We love this shelter, and they could always use more support. If you have the capacity, please consider donating, volunteering, or fostering. We also accept donated days for their daycare account, so more of their dogs can get out of the shelter for a few days a week. They do so much, and deserve any help they can get in giving these dogs the best lives possible.

Teddy has officially graduated! We’ve been hard at work the past few weeks trying to retrain this boys mental state, particularly when it comes to confinement but also with his reactivity towards dogs on walks. He has improved *SO* much.

We don’t normally do before and after videos, so it’s nice to look back with owner provided videos and see how much he’s really accomplished. Teddys drooling in the kennel is way less frequent, he rarely chews on his kennel, he can be left alone safely a few hours at a time, and he’s an absolute dream to take out on walks around prior triggers.

The most critical part happens next, as his owners put in the work to maintain his new normal at home. We’ll be here to support them, as board and trains are rarely magic fixes to extreme behaviors. But, we’re optimistic that life will be so much more enjoyable for Teddy and his family post-training. This wasn’t an easy one, but the hard work paid off. Go Teddy!!
