Some pretty simple engagement, recall, and loose leash training that’s fun for everyone! Structured play is a great way to teach your dog all kinds of useful skills.

Long radio silence again, but lots of amazing happenings this year with Catalyst Animal Behavior! So many amazing animals and people that I’ve crossed paths with, and all the knowledge and experience that they’ve brought.

We’ve also added a new member to the Catalyst family (Rau, pictured above). He takes up most of my free time and keeps me busy, in the best possible way, and also keeps me growing and learning.

Related: there’s a new blog post at www.catalystabc.com/blog about the importance of play in training. It’s been very relevant as of late, what with all the young and exuberant dogs in my life! Check it out, try it out, and all the best.

Looking forward to the new year and whatever it may bring. Thank you all!

Been a while, but still out here everyday working with whatever life throws our way! Couldn’t have better companions/friends/teachers along for the ride.

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow today! Marley, here, sure is.

Nami here is a perfect example of using a variety of reinforcement to help keep our dog’s engagement focused on us when we need it.

Being a young pup who’s eager to experience things, sometimes treats do the trick, sometimes sniffs, and sometimes it’s playing tug that can help us to teach her that walking politely with us, rather than pulling away to meet or chase every new thing that moves, pays off!
