URGENT: To Friends of El Monte Valley

While we have all enjoyed a break from the El Monte Sand Mine fight, it is not over yet. The current sand miners could still pull it off. We cannot allow this to happen.

Supervisor Anderson is hosting a “Community Coffee” on March 29 in El Monte Valley. The invitation states that the purpose of the meeting is "to discuss the issues that are most important to you and your family". So, while the meeting is not about sand mining in El Monte Valley per se, this is an opportunity to be heard. That the meeting is to be held in El Monte Valley is rather fortuitous. It provides us with the perfect backdrop to voice our stance on the sand mine issue. Supervisor Anderson needs to see how united this community is about protecting El Monte Valley!

We feel the only acceptable outcome for the land owned by the sand miners is for the County and/or the City of San Diego to purchase it and create a park with open space, horse trails, and a conservancy to protect the water under the land's surface.

This is where you come in. If only a few attend, the message will not be heard. Please come to tell Supervisor Anderson that the community did not and will not accept any sand mining. Let him know we are still unalterably opposed to anything that even smells of mining or other resource extraction. Tell him we want a park! Future generations are counting on us.

The meeting is on Saturday March 29, at 9:30 AM at Oma's Family Farm, 14950 El Monte Rd. We need a large turnout!
