Things to do if you have an aggressive dog who needs to go to a groomer.
1. DONT be upset with your groomer because of your dogs behavior. When a groomer turns your dog away it has nothing to do with their skill level and everything to do with safety.
2. Hire a trainer! Your dog is a pet and should be able to go to the vet, say hello to strangers, and go to the groomers with no aggression. This is a normal part of a pets life and your pet should be able to communicate their feelings g appropriately. Biting is unacceptable.
3. Take frequent visits to the groomers just to say hi and get pets and treats. This will help build a positive relationship between the space and groomer and your dog.
4. Make sure your dog is socialized. Sit in a park and treat good behavior. Go to Home Depot’s and have strangers give your dog treats.
5. Always warn your groomer of possible biting hazard. A bite could end their career, cause PTSD and may result in your dog being handed over to authorities.
6. Understand that your dogs behavior is NOT normal and the price of your groom will reflect the extra work and risk involved.
7. There will most likely be unfinished grooming tasks. Understand that your dog has to build up to a completely finished groom and you will still be paying for their time.

Work with your dog, set them up for success and keep realistic expectations.

I know this might ruffle a few feathers… 😅

I see people complain all the time that dog grooming is “too expensive.”

Meanwhile…
✨ $200 lashes
✨ $300 hair appointments
✨ Nails every few weeks
✨ Makeup, facials, waxing…

And that’s totally okay—we all spend money on things that make us feel good.

But let’s not pretend dog grooming is just “a haircut.”

We’re clipping nails that could scratch you.
We’re cleaning filthy ears.
We’re expressing sanitary areas.
We’re shaving poop-covered butts.
We’re brushing out painful mats.
We’re dealing with anxious, wiggly, sometimes spicy dogs with sharp teeth and sharper opinions. 😂

It’s dirty, physical work that takes years to master, expensive equipment, continuing education, and a whole lot of patience.

You’re not just paying for a haircut.
You’re paying for your dog’s health, comfort, hygiene, and the skill it takes to safely care for them.

Next time you think, “It’s just a groom,” remember… someone lovingly shaved your dog’s butt so you didn’t have to. 🤣🐾✂️
