If a leash still hangs by the door, or a name just came to mind, that's the point. Today is National Pet Memorial Day.

I know that quiet house feeling. The bowl still in its spot. An alarm still set for a feeding time that doesn't come anymore. The walk you keep meaning to take a different way because the old way still hurts. Nobody warns you that missing someone gets quieter, not smaller.

So today, say the name out loud. Look at the photo a little longer than you meant to. You don't have to explain it to anyone.

And whenever you're ready to talk about it, or not, we're not going anywhere, and there's no rush to any of this. If you'd rather talk it through, our grief support team is here for free, anytime, as unhurried as everything else about how we do this. And if you'd rather just say it here, that works too.

Happy Labor Day to the pets who've mastered doing absolutely nothing. The naps, the slow mornings, the quiet spot in the sun, that's not laziness. That's a life well lived.

We think every pet who's made it to their golden years deserves Employee of the Month, every month.

Last Friday, we hosted an event for families who wanted to honor and remember their best friend, the one who's waiting on the other side of the bridge now. Here's what we got to share, together, through every part of the day.

Guests found the tribute wall first, and each wrote a name on a heart to honor them. Lexus, Bruno, Timmy, Milo, and so many more. Every name mattered.

Families built their own bouquet by hand, choosing each stem themselves. You could see what that meant to them, putting something together for the one they came to remember.

The little ones remembered too, in their own way, stringing beads onto a bracelet while the grown-ups talked nearby.

A quiet corner held the smaller memories: a photo, a paw print pressed into a frame, brought in by the families themselves.
Live music played through the afternoon, a gentle backdrop for a day that needed exactly that. And tables full of food, shared the way it always is at a gathering like this.

A house can get quiet after a pet is gone. For one evening, this room wasn't.

Thank you to every family who came, and every name that came with you. We'll be back next year. Follow along so you don't miss it.

A weekend away costs more than money when your pet is over

Anyone who loves a senior pet knows that math. The naps run longer, the goodbyes at the door get harder, and every ordinary day is one you don't get back. Nobody's trading that for a seat in a conference hall.

So we built Senior Pet Con, September 12 and 13, 2026, to come to you instead. On day one, the best senior-pet veterinarians we know teach from your living room: massage and touch therapy, senior cat care, catching problems early, nutrition with a live cook-along, and the feelings most of us keep to ourselves. Your pet never spends a minute wondering where you went. They'll be right beside you, probably snoring through the parts about them.

Veterinarians, we built your day the same way. Medicine doesn't pause so you can fly to a conference. On day two, a faculty hand-picked by Dr. Monica Tarantino brings 12 hours of RACE-approved geriatric CE, up to 6 hours per attendee, to wherever you are. No flights, no lost clinic days, and your Monday appointments never feel it. All of it from home, on a Sunday.

And this part matters to us: we planned this whole event on the couch next to Sophie, our 16-year-old Boston Terrier. It's built in her honor, and in Baxter's, who was 12.5 when we lost him. We're living the senior years right now, same as you.

Two days, one promise: nobody has to leave anybody.

You've probably spent more time training your dog than watching how he already lives.

He gets a shorter life than you do, and somehow he's better at living it. No scrolling. No rushing. No waiting for someday.

Dogs already know how to do this. We're just relearning it from them.

Some goodbyes deserve their own evening. On August 28th, we're making space for the Rainbow Bridge Event, a gathering for anyone who's loved and lost a pet. There's a floral table where you can build a bouquet to take home in their name, space to share a photo or story if you'd like to, live music, and a few words from Dr. Stephanie. Come as you are.
