💗 Have you met Sugar?

Sugar is our blind senior hospice hedgehog, estimated to be around 4–5 years old. As pet-trade hedgehogs age, they become increasingly prone to developing tumors and cancer, and Sugar is no exception. She currently has both a reproductive mass and a tumor on her right arm.

Despite her ailments, Sugar continues to remind us that animals don’t always read the textbooks! (Mainly because they can’t read medical literature)  She still enjoys her meals, burrows beneath her favorite blankets, and carries on with blind determination. If you ask us, her secret is that nothing can bother her when she’s tucked safely under a mountain of cozy blankets. Because of you guys, she has A LOT of blankies  

Today, Sugar had a spa day complete with a bath and nail trim. For now, our focus remains on keeping Sugar comfortable, happy, and surrounded by all the things she loves. Hospice care isn’t about giving up, it’s about making every day count, no matter how many days remain😊 When it comes to Sugar, we truly have no idea how many days remain, because she continues to defy all odds and timelines. Get it, girl! 💗

The next month is shaping up to be a busy one for our rescue, and our surrender waiting list continues to grow. To help make supporting our work accessible to as many people as possible, this month’s collaboration will feature more affordable options than some of our previous collab releases.

🥺 Speckles is still waiting for someone to call his own.

At 9 years old, this chunky leopard gecko has perfected the art of being a grumpy-looking sweetheart. He may give off “old grandpa” vibes, but once you get to know him, you’ll find a gentle gecko who just wants a comfortable place to spend his golden years.

Speckles came to us overweight and has been working hard on his fitness journey. He’s now down to 120 grams and looking for a family that will help him stay healthy while giving him all the love he deserves.

💖 Fennel is searching for her forever home! 💖

Fennel is a sweet 2-year-old bearded dragon with a big personality packed into a tiny body. Due to being ADV-positive, her growth is stunted, making her much smaller than a typical dragon her age, but she doesn’t let that slow her down!

Like many ADV-positive dragons, Fennel’s future health is difficult to predict. Some dragons live long, happy lives with few complications, while others may develop health issues later on. At this time, Fennel is bright, active, and showing no signs of illness.

Because ADV can be spread to other reptiles, Fennel is looking for a home without other reptiles, with an experienced caretaker who understands ADV+ animals, or someone who already provides a home to ADV+ reptiles.

All adopters must still complete our adoption application and be approved prior to adoption.

🌱 The tortoises are back out for the summer! Alice & Chains are our sanctuary sulcata tortoises. Sulcatas, being the third largest tortoise species in the world, are also one the most commonly impulse purchased exotic animals. Who would’ve thought that the third largest species would be difficult to care for in the long run? 😶
Alice & Chains are still in their younger years, but one day, they’ll be too heavy to lift 😮‍💨
