Who doesn’t love a success story?! 🩷 Making animals more comfortable each & every day!
Goldie is one of our rare patients who is not a fan of acupuncture, but when this lesson pony extraordinaire stopped sweating Dr. Amy knew she had to get creative - after just two laser-puncture treatments, Goldie’s owner texted to let us know her ability to sweat had dramatically improved! While she previously had only been sweating under her saddle pad, swipe through to see some amazing results. ✨

💦 Keep in mind every patient is different when it comes to anhidrosis - what contributes to them getting to the point of not being able to sweat & what helps them regain the ability - but we are thrilled to see this much improvement in Goldie after only 2 treatments!

Let us know if you have any questions about acupuncture or laser-puncture for your horse!

Did you know omega-3s aren’t just supportive-they’re actually measurable? 💉🐟

With a small amount of blood, Dr. Amy can test your dog’s omega-3 level, and if needed start VF Omegas or another quality supplement to ensure your dog is in the ideal range for a variety of health benefits. 🐾

In a 16-week clinical study, dogs supplementing with Standard Process® VF Omega-3 increased their Omega-3 Index from 1.4 to 3.3, reaching the ideal range of 3-8%. Owners also reported significantly reduced discomfort scores after supplementation.

Ask us about it at your next appointment if your dog has signs of omega-3 deficiency or excess - we’re happy to help!

✨Because dose, absorption, and consistency matter.✨

🌿 Picky eater? We’ve been there! 😅🐴

Not every horse is thrilled when it’s time for their herbal supplements—but with a little patience and a few creative tricks, even the pickiest eaters can come around. 💚

Whether you’re starting with a tiny amount, mixing herbs into a favorite treat, or using a concentrated formula, there are plenty of ways to make herbal time less of a battle and more of a routine.

✨ Remember: Consistency is key! Most horses learn that herbals aren’t so bad after all.

☀️🥵 Can your horse handle this heat?

With another week of 100°+ heat indexes across Southeastern North Carolina, it’s the perfect time to talk about anhidrosis—a condition where horses lose the ability to sweat normally.

Sweating is your horse’s primary way to cool down. When they can’t sweat effectively, they can quickly become overheated, putting them at risk for heat stress and even life-threatening respiratory distress.

In this post, we’re covering:
🌿 What anhidrosis is
💚 How acupuncture may help support healthy sweating and thermoregulation
👀 The warning signs every horse owner should know
☀️ Simple ways to help keep your horse safe during extreme heat

➡️ Be sure to swipe all the way to the end to watch a video of a horse experiencing respiratory distress due to heat. Pay close attention to the flared nostrils and increased breathing effort—these are important warning signs that should never be ignored.

Remember, acupuncture is just one tool in a comprehensive approach to managing horses with anhidrosis and should always be used alongside good heat management practices.

Stay cool, stay safe, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about whether acupuncture could benefit your horse this summer. 🐴💚
