Bird owners, please research “happy huts” before putting them in your bird’s cage. I know they are sold in almost every pet store and they LOOK cute and cozy, but they can actually be very dangerous for parrots.

These huts can cause:
• crop impaction from swallowed fibers
• strangulation or toes getting caught in loose threads
• hormonal and nesting behavior
• aggression and territorial behavior
• bacterial buildup from droppings and moisture

Sadly, many birds have been seriously injured or even died from them.

A lot of us used them years ago before we knew better, so this is not meant to shame anyone. I just want people to be aware because stores continue to sell them like they’re safe.

If your bird likes to feel secure at night, safer options are platform perches, sea grass mats, fleece strips without loose threads, or natural perches.

Please do your research and keep your feathered babies safe. ❤️🦜
