He’s nursing!

At 11:28 pm, Porsche had a buckskin tobiano c**t. He met all the milestones quickly except nursing. We bottle fed him a few ounces and finally decided to leave them be and let them try to figure it out. Porsche was so painful and protective of him that it was impossible to try to help so the vet and I decided to let them be alone. Hoping he latched on. Porsche has lots of milk!

Today is officially 340 days in Porsches pregnancy. She has been testing at 6.0 for two and a half days now and still no baby. She kinda stalled out last night and was just super comfy and catching up on sleep. Only one false alarm on the foal alert and that was pretty early at about 10:30 last night. Maybe the calm before the storm??

Well, no baby. Porsche set the foal alert off about 7 times last night. She was up and down all night and has been biting at her belly and kicking at it. My guess is the baby is positioning. The fluid from her udder is clear like water, not milky so hoping that changes quick, but it’s so thick and sticky like honey. She’s still testing at 6.0 so the signs are there. Just gonna watch her like a hawk.

Porsche has made some noticeable progress today. I think we have some waxing, and her PH is at 6.0! She has also been slowly bagging in the last several hours. She has also lost the ability to clench her tail. So, will we have a Mother’s Day baby?? Fingers crossed!

Happy 10th birthday to McCarthys Little Porsche! My first ASPC horse I ever owned. When she first came to me, she wanted nothing to do with me. I think she kinda likes me now! lol. She is still holding that baby hostage but she’s been making progress, so hopefully soon.

Porsche is at 330 days today. We have her on Domperidone to bring in her milk and I’d say it’s working. Milk test strips are showing that her colostrum is not ready yet so I think we have a little time but who knows.
