While cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) may be inevitable in some pets, there are ways to help slow its onset.
As your pet ages, scheduling two wellness exams per year can help detect any issues early. Talk to your VCA veterinarian for advice on CDS treatment, supplements and medicine.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

House soiling, scratching and aggression are the most common behavior problems reported in cats. What begins as an intermittent frustration can increase in frequency or severity to the point that it dramatically affects your relationship with your cat.

If you notice a behavior problem, don’t procrastinate; address the issue as soon as possible. See your veterinarian to rule out medical causes and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Many of us expect a pet with arthritis to show obvious signs of pain. While limping is certainly possible, signs of arthritis are often subtle. Your once-playful dog may start acting “crabby” and aloof due to pain, or your cat may eliminate on your rug because it’s difficult to climb in and out of the litter box.
Changes in your pet’s behavior or activity call for a veterinary exam. The early diagnosis and treatment of arthritis can aid in restoring your pet’s quality of life and may help prevent worsening of the condition.
