I hope everyone has been stopping in to see Bruce at Broad Street Pets! He has a huge variety of fish, great prices and is just a heck of a nice guy. All the fish I've gotten from him have done great and what he didn't have in stock, he ordered for me. Also, Ken is doing great. Still refuses to leave the house and is happy just watching American Pickers all day long but that's fine with us, it's too cold to go anywhere anyway. He's back to 100% himself and has officially gained back the 40 lbs he lost in the hospital. (now if we could just convince him to stop eating!) Otherwise, nothing much going on, too cold. Looking forward to spring when we can get him on the mower. Hope everyone is doing good! Happy Valentines Day!

It is with a heavy heart, I found out today Hoffer's Tropical Life in Milwaukee is closing it's doors after 42 amazing years. Mike Hoffer was not only an amazing business man but a family friend who shares many a story with my dad over the last 40 yrs. His store will be greatly missed, as will he. Hard to find a nicer guy, always willing to lend a hand. Best of luck in retirement Mike, you will be missed old friend.

Ken is doing.. AMAZING! We saw his cardiologist today and he said "Ken, you're famous". The nurse said "Ken, can I give you a hug?" Dad said "If you must". lol. He's so cute! I'm SOO happy to have him home. I count my blessings every day. He now gets around 100% by himself, he doesn't even need his cane unless he goes outside. He helped me cook dinner tonight, he did the dishes all by himself. Now that things are getting back to normal, we finally have time to grieve and we sure miss Mare but we are taking it one day at a time and just being grateful for what we do have. He's enjoying spending his days just being retired and watching TV. The only down side right now is that because he was SO sick, he's losing all his hair. It's actually coming out in clumps but the dr. said he hopes it will grow back in about a year. Until then, I'll get him a hat to keep his head warm. Oh, and he's gained 8 lbs! Yay! If anyone has any free time, stop over or call. I try to keep him busy but he sure loves seeing people! Thank you all again for all the support.

It is with a heavy heart, and I've said that way too much this year, that I announce as of 7:30pm tonight, Ken's Animal House has been sold. The new owner Bruce is an absolutely amazing guy, I can't say enough about him. Just a stand up all around nice guy. Reminds me a lot of my dad when he 1st started. (except a lot more sober, lol) Bruce will be up and running in the next couple weeks and I hope you all stop in and say hello and wish him well! Again, thank you all for a wonderful 34 years, we couldn't have made it without you. Much love, Ken and Katie.

I will be at Ken's Animal House today from around 10 - 2. We have a buyer coming in to look at it so if anyone needs anything, I will be there. It's also Art in the Park downtown so take the back way in. :)

Quick update and a BIG thank you. Ken has been home a couple weeks now and he's doing really good. He's extremely weak yet but after being in the hospital 3 months, who wouldn't be right? He's trying really hard to get some weight on as he's down to 115 lbs. I told him to hang with me, I'll have him back up in no time. ;) Otherwise, he has physical and occupational therapy here throughout the week and he's just hanging out chilling. I know he's bored out of his mind, I sure wish he was strong enough to go back to Ken's but he just doesn't have it in him. Dr's said it will be a good 6 mo- yr before he's back to himself. Thank you everyone for all the well wishes and messages, for calling and stopping by to see him. He's always asking who's asking about him so it's nice I have so many names to give him! We've had a couple people call about buying the contents of the store which would be idea for us but if it doesn't happen that way then I'll post details about a going out of business sale soon.
