Anxious or fearful dogs don’t need more chaos… they need clarity, structure, and calm guidance 🐾

If I were starting from scratch this week, these are the first 5 things I’d focus on:
✔️ Building a safe space- aspace to decompress
✔️ Meeting daily energy needs- not in a hectic or obsessive way
✔️ Adding structure with a leash
✔️ Slowing myself down
✔️ Teaching calm through tethering

Confidence isn’t created through pressure — it’s built through consistency.

Small changes in your routine can completely shift your dog’s mindset over time ✨

Remember, change can be hard for everyone, but that's also where growth happens. So stay consistent and calm.

Many dog owners assume their dog is being stubborn, disobedient, or "not listening." More often than not, the issue isn't a lack of effort, but a lack of clear communication.

Dogs are constantly responding to the information we give them, whether we realize it or not. The clearer and more consistent our communication, the easier it is for our dogs to understand what we expect from them.

✅ Use the leash as a tool for guidance, not just restraint
✅ Keep commands short and consistent
✅ Make your markers and boundaries clear

✨ Welcome Juney to our June training roster! ✨

This sweet little girl came in as a bundle of nerves—barking at me and every new sound she heard. Beneath those reactions is a tiny 10lb body carrying some BIG feelings.

From resource guarding her toys, to claiming her owner’s bed (and personal space) a little too strongly, Juney is in need of clear direction, consistent accountability, and most importantly—confidence building.

And here’s the real key: educating her humans on what Juney needs vs. what simply feels good in the moment.

— and Juney is the perfect example. Far too often, small dogs “get away with it” because a 10lb problem is easier to scoop up than a 70lb one dragging you down the street… but here’s the truth:

👉 Dogs are dogs.

Treat them accordingly, and you’ll both enjoy a happier, more balanced, and inclusive life together.

Confidence isn’t built by avoiding fear.

When we step in and remove every challenge, or allow our dogs to constantly retreat, we may think we’re helping—but we’re often reinforcing the very fear we’re trying to fix.

🚫Avoidance feels good in the moment…

But it teaches the dog:
👉“That really was something to be afraid of.”

Growth happens in the middle ground—not in overwhelm, but not in total escape either.

To truly build confidence, we have to lead our dogs through their fears:
🐾 Supporting—not forcing
🐾 Guiding—not abandoning
🐾 Creating small, manageable wins

A little bit of stress—the right kind—isn’t harmful. It’s called EUSTRESS, and it’s what allows learning, adaptation, and resilience to happen.

That moment where your dog hesitates… looks back at you… and then tries anyway?

💫That’s where confidence is built.

You don’t need a fearless dog.
You need a dog who knows how to move forward with you, even when things feel hard.

Welcome Winston to the BBK9 June roster! 🐾

Winston and his owners have been waiting since March to officially begin his training journey—and we know it’ll be well worth the wait.

Like many dogs we see, Winston isn’t “bad”… he’s just
💫over-aroused, overly friendly, and lacking structure.💫
No consistent crating early on, frequent daycare, and never being taught how to *settle* has left him struggling with obedience and emotional regulation.

And here’s the truth—
👉 Winston represents SO many dogs out there.

Dogs who are loving, happy, and social…
…but too wild, too distracted, or too impulsive to bring anywhere.

When training multiple dogs at once, each dog learns that commands still apply, even when another dog is moving, working, or receiving attention. This helps create calmer dogs, stronger communication, and more dependable behavior in real-world situations.

Before introducing multi-dog training, we make sure each dog has a solid foundation individually. Our prerequisites for this exercise are:

✨ Each dog understands the commands being used

✨ Each dog understands marker training and clear communication

✨ Each dog can be redirected and guided back into position if they break command

Remember: the goal isn't simply getting dogs to coexist. The goal is teaching them to remain calm, engaged, and responsive regardless of what's happening around them.

We’ve loved working with each and every dog this month—so proud of all the progress and hard work!
