Tomorrow, Lake City Humane Society Will close at 1:00pm to Celebrate a Life Like No Other.
A life larger than life itself. A personality that could fill a room. A heart that left its fingerprints on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Tomorrow, we will gather to celebrate the life of our beloved Terry.
How do you say goodbye to someone whose presence was bigger than life? Someone who could walk through a doorway and instantly change the atmosphere of an entire room?
That was Terry.
It didn’t matter what kind of day he was having, what challenges he faced, or what was happening around him. Ask Terry how he was doing, and his answer was always the same:
“I AM BLESSED.”
And he meant it.
Those three little words weren’t simply something Terry said. They were how he chose to live his life.
Terry had a way of making ordinary days extraordinary. His laughter, his unmistakable personality, and all those little things that made him uniquely Terry became part of the heartbeat of Lake City Humane Society.
There are people who come into our lives for a season, and then there are those who leave something behind that will stay with us forever.
Terry was one of those people.
Tomorrow, there will be tears. There will be laughter. There will be stories told and memories shared. And somewhere in the middle of it all, I know we will find ourselves smiling because we were given the extraordinary privilege of knowing him.
We will miss his voice. We will miss his dedication. We will miss that larger-than-life presence that could never be mistaken for anyone else’s.
But most of all, we will miss Terry.
Tomorrow, we won’t focus on how we lost him. We will celebrate how incredibly blessed we were to have him.
And perhaps that is the greatest lesson he left us.
To appreciate the little things. To find joy in ordinary moments. To love people while we have them. And no matter what life brings, to remember that there is always something to be grateful for.
Terry, tomorrow we celebrate YOU.
And if someone asks us how we’re doing, I hope we can find the strength to smile through our tears and answer just as you always did:
“I AM BLESSED.”
Because, Terry, we truly were blessed to have you in our lives.
