Five surgeries. Several hospitalizations. Months in a wheelchair. Fourteen rods in my leg and a dream I kept putting off.

Over the past year, I went through a medically necessary bone break, a bone graft and several months without being able to walk. When I was finally able to put weight on my leg, I returned to work, only to be hospitalized again with a serious strep infection. I came back on crutches, and in February 2026, I was finally cleared to slowly begin walking again.

My body changed tremendously. I struggled with depression, anxiety and learning to accept those changes.

Then I made myself a promise: I was going to stop waiting and finally compete in the grooming competitions I had always dreamed about.

In May, I needed another surgery this time on my wrist. By the middle of June, I was back to grooming and determined to keep going.

This isn’t a sympathy post. I hope it reminds someone else that it’s okay to be scared. It’s okay for your body to change. It’s okay to have days when all you can do is survive.

Rest when you need to,but please don’t stop believing in yourself. Start scared. Start slowly. Just keep trying. 💜
