Hey Forest Bluff Family! We are asking for thoughts and prayers for our dear friend Jolene (some of you know Jolene as our trainer Emily’s pawsome sidekick), who is struggling with a serious autoimmune disorder. She is a Golden mix who is just shy of 6 years old. Jo, as we call her, is a sweet and spunky gal who loves adventure and assisting in the training of new pups. She is very special to Emily and all who know her.
Recently, Jo became extremely ill out of the blue. This prompted immediate ER care; which turned into days of hospitalization at Thrive Specialty Center in Hoffman Estates. Jo has been diagnosed with ITP. ITP in dogs (immune-mediated thrombocytopenia) is an extremely serious illness where the body kills its own blood platelets. Platelets help blood to clot. When their numbers drop too low, dogs can bruise easily, bleed heavily internally or externally, or face life-threatening emergencies. Jolene is still undergoing continuous treatment/hospitalization; prognosis at this point is still unknown.
As you can imagine, Emily is struggling with the financial aspect of hospitalizing Jolene for several days at a specialty facility. Prayers and good thoughts are greatly appreciated for our struggling teammate and her furry best friend.
