Pollen season is among us and that means it’s ALLERGY SEASON!!🤧🌳🌷

Although we share the same triggers, symptoms in dogs and humans differ. Where we may have itchy or watery eyes, a runny nose and sneezing, environmental allergies in dogs typically presents with itchy skin, ears and feet! This can look like traditional scratching but may also manifest as head shaking or licking of the paws.

Treating allergies can tricky but our vets would be happy to discuss allergy maintenance in detail and help come up with a plan to bring your pup relief.

Have you ever heard of Snuggle Puppies?!?🐶

We hadn’t either until today! A couple of our cute new patients were sent home with these cute, snuggly plushies!

They have a “real-feel” heartbeat and a warming pack that can be put into the plushie!

This is an awesome way to help sooth your new friends as they adjust to their new home. A lot like us, a puppy or kitten may experience some anxiety and fear in an unfamiliar place without their siblings/parents. Looks like Teddy and Mae are adjusting beautifully in their new homes with their Snuggle Puppies!🥰

‼️April is National Heartworm Awareness Month‼️

Did you know that heartworms are transmitted through mosquitos?!? 🦟

Living in the South, we know just how plentiful mosquitoes are here!🥵

Heartworm disease is fatal if untreated, but there are several easy ways to prevent your pets from being infected. While dogs are the most common host for heartworms, cats can fall victim to the parasites as well.

The American Heartworm Society recommends year-round prevention for both dogs and cats. Call us today for any inquiries about the prevention we have here in clinic as well as on our online pharmacy!

Ever wondered what we’re looking at after we get a sample from your pet’s ear?!?

After we get samples from each ear we place them onto a glass microscope slide and stain it to look for yeast and/or bacteria under a microscope!

Here is an example of an overgrowth of yeast and cocci bacteria in an infected pup’s ears. The good news is it is treatable with the right medication. That’s why it is so important that we get an ear cytology so we know how to properly treat your babies!🤍
