Summer heat can sneak up fast on little paws 🐾☀️

During Louisiana summers, pavement, sidewalks, and parking lots can become dangerously hot for pets in just minutes. Paw pad burns are more common than many people realize, especially during midday outings.

A simple test: place the back of your hand on the pavement for a few seconds. If it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet too.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe this summer:
• Plan walks for early mornings or later evenings
• Choose grass or shaded paths whenever possible
• Bring water along for outdoor adventures
• Keep an eye out for limping, licking paws, or sensitivity after walks
