Our surgical suite has been closed since a client accidentally crashed into our building but that didn’t stop this team. Even with daily thunderstorms, SpayNation persevered and spayed/neutered 126 dogs and cats.

Please give a BIG shout‑out to our incredible team for their dedication to our spay/neuter mission and to our clients for standing with us.

Here’s a peek inside SpayNation Express, our mobile unit, where the magic has been happening.

UPDATE: Limited Community Cat Surgeries During Building Closure

Due to the temporary closure of our building, we are continuing surgeries, but at a reduced capacity.

We will be accepting community cats, but we must limit intake to two cats per trapper unless prior arrangements have already been made. Because we are operating out of our mobile unit, we can only accept traps designed for cats—traps intended for larger animals cannot be accommodated in this space.

Community cats must arrive between 8:30–9:00 AM.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this unexpected situation. Your support helps us keep serving the animals who need us most.

We want to thank our very own advocate, Starla Gladden, and KATC 3 for this informative interview and for helping shine a light on the important work we do.

A local nonprofit that provides low-cost spay and neuter services across Acadiana is scaling back operations after a vehicle crashed into its building, forcing cancellations and limiting critical pet care during a peak demand period.

Well… today was one for the books. Unfortunately, one of our clients accidentally drove into part of our building and damaged a section of our surgical area. Thankfully, no people or pets were injured, and — like a cat — we landed on our feet. 🐈

At this time, we are working under the guidance of Lafayette Consolidated Government, and repairs cannot begin until approvals are completed. Because of the damage, we unfortunately had to cancel surgeries scheduled for today. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused our clients and patients.

The good news is that we are already adapting and moving forward! Our surgical mobile unit will now be relocated to SpayNation. Male cats will be neutered inside the clinic, while small dogs and small cats will be spayed/neutered in our mobile surgical unit.

We truly appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and support while we navigate this unexpected situation. Thank you for sticking with us — and honestly, this setup is going to be pretty cool. ❤️

Two Different Arrivals, One Shared Impact

Little did Mela know that when she arrived for her spay appointment today, she would also be volunteering and saving lives by doing so. When we asked her owner if Mela could serve as our blood serum donor, there wasn’t a moment of hesitation. Her blood has been spun down into serum and is already being used to help felines with severe eye condition, giving them a chance to heal and keep their eye rather than facing enucleation surgery. Mela came in for routine care and left as a quiet hero.

On the other end of the spectrum, Little Bit arrived in a wagon lovingly pedaled by a good neighbor. She is deeply cherished, but her elderly owner is struggling financially and with her own health. Today, Little Bit not only received her spay and vaccines, but also a desperately needed groom. Many people don’t realize how essential regular grooming is for certain breeds until mats become painful and restrictive. Little Bit was a perfect example of how quickly it can happen.

Our lead veterinary technician, Asia Clement, removed one full pound of matted fur from her tiny body. Little Bit walked out lighter, comfortable, and free of pain—her tail finally able to wag without pulling on knots.

A Big shout out to Mug-Z-Moo and the Louisiana Pet Overpopulation Advisory Council for believing in spay/neuter. Thanks to you no more litters for Little Bit!

Angel Day Impact in Acadiana! Today, 21 pit bulls and pit bull mixes were spayed or neutered thanks to the incredible generosity of Stand Up For Pits Foundation, Inc. Their sponsorship covered each pet’s surgery, rabies vaccination, take‑home pain medication, e‑collar, and even flea prevention for some.

This nationwide program was created in honor of founder Rebecca Corry’s beloved rescued pit bull, Angel and because of Angel’s legacy, 21 dogs in our community are safer, healthier, and protected today.

We are deeply grateful to every family who brought their pets in. These dogs are loved, cared for, and now part of a movement that stretches across the United States. Thank you, Stand Up For Pits, for believing in spay/neuter and for lifting up pit bulls everywhere. Follow the link the below

We are overjoyed to share that after a long year‑and‑a‑half wait, Rocco has finally landed in the perfect home, and our hearts couldn’t be fuller. To his new family—thank you for choosing adoption and for opening your home and hearts to a dog who truly deserved this second chance.

This journey would not have been possible without ZenDog. Not only did they house Rocco for eighteen months, they kept him motivated, safe, healthy, and supported as he worked through the challenges that come with abandonment and the sudden loss of family. Their dedication gave him stability when he needed it most.

Our community is fortunate to have a few hidden gems—Susan Blackstone and Sissy Belfour. They were the catalyst in Rocco’s journey and in so many others like him. Because of their dedication, Rocco has a future, and countless animals like him do too.

And a big shout‑out to Acadiana Animal Aid and Wild Cat Foundation for being part of this journey as well. It truly takes a village, and this village showed up for Rocco.

Our medical director, Dr. Randi Adams, is holding one of today’s clients… and let’s just say he made quite an entrance. Meet Sc***um, a very handsome Sphynx whose testicles were so proudly on display that we added two cherries for the photo. We absolutely love clients with a sense of humor, and it’s even sweeter (with a cherry on top) when they believe in spay and neuter.

In the last month alone, 307 community cats have been spayed or neutered which means 307 traps lined with newspaper. And we’re already gearing up for the next 300.

If you have extra newspaper you’d like to put to good use, we’d be grateful for the help. You can drop it off Monday–Thursday, 10 AM–3 PM.

Thank you for supporting community cats and the people who care for them.
