We've been quiet but we've been BUSY! Meet the rescue dog named "Doctor" who came in from a special prison system program where she was used as a support and therapy dog for inmates in Louisiana! She came in with severe anxiety, fear of people, every little sound and object would startle her. Through weeks of training she has made tremendous success thanks to her parents dedication to her training! Desensitization strategies and a proper enrichment training routine along with plenty of positive reinforcement, she turned into a whole new dog! Through my 13 years of training experience, this was a case that has been most rewarding! Doctor showed so much improvement throughout our course and we could not be more proud of her and her parents commitment!
A large key to this success was implementing a healthy enrichment routine to help keep her anxious mind working. This case showed just how important enrichment training is for dogs! Keeping a dog minds active is a great cure for boredom, helping them ease anxiousness and provide physical and mental stimulation for times where your dog simply needs something to do!
Grateful for this experience and the trust that was given to us to help Doctor on her journey to recovery!!
