Paws With Me K9 Enrichment & Training

Paws With Me K9 Enrichment & Training I am a wife and dog momma to 2. My youngest pup, a little over 4yrs old, has brought me to this purpose. I'm excited to be on this journey!

I believe that by meeting dogs where they are and working in partnership with their guardians, we can foster stronger relationships, deepen understanding, unlock their true potential and create lasting change. When we found out he was a fearful, sensitive pup, I dove all in, taking classes to not only better myself, but understand him more and help him live his best life!

Have you ever explored human scent tracking with your dog?

And before you say "oh, my dog isn't a working dog"... stop right there. This isn't about having a dog who actually works (unless that's something you want to explore!) This is about giving ANY dog the chance to do what they were literally born to do: use their nose.

Here's what I watch happen every single time I run this class:

Dogs who are usually on high alert? They settle into the work. Their whole body changes. Because when a dog is following a scent trail, they're problem-solving, they're focused, and they're using the part of their brain that actually helps them decompress. It builds confidence in a way that no obedience command ever will.

But here's what nobody talks about enough... what it does for YOU.

It teaches you to slow down. To stop directing and start observing. To trust that your dog actually knows what they're doing when you give them the space to figure it out. You learn to read them differently. You start communicating in a language they understand. And that shift? It changes everything about your relationship.

That's not training. That's connection.

I have a 4-week series coming up this fall and I'd love to have you there:

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Sept 19, Sept 26, Oct 3 & Oct 10 (all 4 weeks required โ€” skills build each session!)
โฐ 9:00 AM
๐Ÿ“ New Durham, NH (address sent after you register)
๐Ÿ• Only 6 spots (no drop-ins)

Rewinding the moment is one of the most useful things I teach owners of reactive dogs.

Not so you can prevent every hard moment (you can't, and that's okay), but so you start to see your dog as someone communicating, not someone misbehaving.

The more you notice what comes before, the more chances you have to step in early next time or triage the situation real time, and the less it has to end in a bark or a lunge to get your attention.

This is a skill. It gets easier with practice, and you don't have to figure it out alone. ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿพ

One of my clients shared this with me after her dogโ€™s wellness exam. The veterinarian ,who has known her since she was a puppy, was so impressed with how far she has come (ok, let's give credit where credit is due, it's not just the dog, it's the TEAM! This journey isn't just the dog, there is an owner behind that dog trying to figure out how to share a life with this dog).

And then she told him about the work weโ€™ve been doing together.

His response? He was genuinely pleased and appreciative of the time, care, and support being given to her.

And then she said something that completely melted my heart:
โ€œYou are a large part of the support I am giving her!โ€
๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

You guysโ€ฆ THIS is what itโ€™s all about.

Itโ€™s not about creating the โ€œperfectโ€ dog.

Itโ€™s not about obedience.

Itโ€™s about helping dogs feel safer.

Building confidence.

More importantly, understanding who they are and what they need.

Giving their humans the tools, support, and confidence to help them navigate this big, sometimes overwhelming world.

And sometimes the progress happens so gradually that you donโ€™t even realize just how far youโ€™ve comeโ€ฆuntil someone who knew your dog at the beginning sees them now.

Thatโ€™s when you realizeโ€ฆ

Holy crap. Look how far weโ€™ve come!!!!

I am so incredibly proud of this team. And so incredibly grateful that I get to do this work.

THIS is why Paws With Me exists. ๐Ÿ’™
๐Ÿพ Creating confidence.
๐Ÿพ Building connection.
๐Ÿพ Supporting BOTH ends of the leash.

And sometimesโ€ฆ we get a little reminder that the work really IS making a difference. โค๏ธ

Keep going, friends. The progress may be happening even when you can't see it yet.

Want to know the actual secret behind living with an anxious dog?

It's not another training program.
It's not a better leash.
It's not the perfect command delivered at the perfect time.

It's you.

It's you learning to regulate YOUR nervous system so your dog isn't picking up on every ounce of stress you're carrying to the end of that leash. It's you letting go of the dog you thought you were going to have and falling in love with the one standing in front of you. It's you getting curious about WHY they react instead of just trying to make it stop.

Your dog doesn't need to be trained out of their anxiety. They need to feel safe. And that starts with you feeling like you actually know what you're doing, or at least like you're not doing it alone.

That's exactly why I built Conquering Chaos.

12 weeks. You, your dog, me as your coach, and a licensed therapist in your corner for the human side of this.

Because nobody talks about how much this takes out of YOU. And you deserve support too.

Link in bio if you're ready to stop white-knuckling it and start actually living with your dog again. ๐Ÿพ

Once upon a time, this grate was TERRIFYING to Brutus.

If he saw one on a walk, his ears would go down, he would back up, avoid it, and go waaaay out of his way to make sure he didnโ€™t have to go near it.

So I did something different.

Instead of using control and making him โ€œget over it,โ€ I got curious.

I stopped. I looked at it. I investigated it. I talked to it and him. And I gave Brutus the space to watch, process, and decide what he wanted to do.

Eventually, my curiosity made him curious.

And now?

We have to stop at EVERY. SINGLE. GRATE. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Today, here he is checking out 1 of many we encountered on our walk. He walked right up and checked it out completely on his own.

No forcing.
No coaxing.
No asking him to โ€œface his fear.โ€

Just a dog who decided, โ€œHey, I know what this is!.โ€

And THIS is why I love curiosity over control.

Sometimes confidence doesnโ€™t come from teaching our dogs that something isnโ€™t scary.

Sometimes it comes from giving them the freedom to discover that for themselves.

Brutus didnโ€™t need me to make the grate disappear.

He needed the time, space, and freedom to become curious about it.

And somewhere along the way, curiosity became confidence. โค๏ธ

Now, apparently, he has appointed himself Official Grate Inspector. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Itโ€™s completely normal to feel embarrassed or exhausted when your dog is struggling in public. When you're constantly trying to manage their big feelings, it can easily feel like they are intentionally working against you. But those challenging behaviors are actually their only way of asking for help.

Iโ€™m Michelle Morrow, reactive dog coach and founder of Conquering Chaos, a 12-week online course for dog owners who are looking to connect with their anxious, reactive dog and find the right path forward.

Once we stop viewing a meltdown as a problem to control, we can start listening to what our dogs are actually saying. Maybe the environment is too loud, or maybe they just don't understand what to do next. Stepping back and getting curious about their experience relieves so much of the pressure you both feel. You don't have to have all the answers right away, just the willingness to learn their language.

Are you ready to dive in, together? Send me a DM with the word CHAOS today!
