🐾❤️ A HUGE thank you to Flying Dolly's for having us out today for our Licking for Love Adoption Event! Not only did they welcome us with open arms, but they also spoiled all of our adoptable pups with free pup cups! 🍦🐶

We are thrilled to share that Sass-a-Frass and Ice were adopted today, while Arlo and Fizz headed out on sleepovers, and Charlie found a foster family!🏡✨

Four additional pups found their forever families today and will be heading home after their surgery on Monday!🎉🐾

If you had your eye on Spence or Colin, don't worry—they will be available for adoption at the shelter on Monday!

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported our mission, shared our dogs, and cheered them on. Your support means everything.

As we head into the final stretch of Operation: Fight for 50, we still have several Mayday dogs desperately looking for foster homes and adopters. The next week is critical, and every share, foster, adoption, and conversation helps save lives.

🍨LOVE AT FIRST LICK 🐶🐾

Tomorrow is the day for another successful adoption event with Flying Dolly's - Mandeville! The pups are ready for an icy pup-cup and a family to call their own! With the weather forecast simply being HOT, what better spot to spend your summer weekend afternoon? Come by, grab a sweet treat and maybe leave with a lifetime of love!

If you've been following Operation: Fight for 50, you know we have 8 dogs still in shelter, facing a deadline for placement on June 22nd. Due to the urgency and expected community support showing up to the shelter, none of the 'Fight for 50' pups will be attending our event. Please go into the shelter tomorrow to foster or adopt any that have that deadline. Follow our progress and learn about those most at-risk from the pinned post on our page!

However, we have the sweetest crew coming with us to Mandeville tomorrow! Those listed on this post are planning to attend and looking for their furever home 💙🩵

We set out to save 50. We’re at 38 home or safe in foster. Twelve good dogs are still waiting for someone to choose them. These are the ones the world keeps scrolling past — and we refuse to let them be forgotten. 💔

Every single one of these dogs is available right now. A foster, a sleepover, or a forever home — any of it changes everything for them.

Ben — 1.5yr Black Lab, neutered male. Waiting since SEPTEMBER. 9 months behind a kennel door. He’s been patient long enough. 🖤

P.J. — 2yr Pit mix, neutered male. In since October.

Polly — 5yr Pit mix, spayed female. October. This sweet girl deserves a couch.

Geode — 1yr Pit, spayed female. October. Barely more than a puppy and she’s been here her whole life.

Fidget — 4yr Pit mix, neutered male.

Trinity — 3yr Pit mix, spayed female.

Hank — 1yr Lab/Pit mix, neutered male.

Duncan — 6yr Am Pit Bull Ter, neutered male. The older boys wait the longest. 🥺

Many of you may know of START. Some may not — so we wanted to spotlight them and their plea as well - this organization does a lot for our community across this parish. Especially for our community’s cats, but certainly not only them. They help the community and are able to do a lot with a little - connecting people and animals with resources outside of the shelter systems. Undoubtedly many in our community have reached out to them - please consider helping START continue to fill in the cracks when our shelter systems are overwhelmed. The Fight for 50 drags on, and START has risen to the occasion many times to help. Thank you START - we see you & the work you’re doing - you all are appreciated. 🐾❤️

If you're local to our organization, you have, no doubt, heard about the parish municipal shelter being over capacity.

What you may not consider is that when communities hear such news, they start turning elsewhere for help with their animals.

As a result, we have stretching ourselves thin by taking on as much rescue work as possible, in order to help alleviate the stress on the shelter.

Above all, this has stretched our organization financially.

In the past two weeks alone, our veterinarian billls have totaled $2658.02. Other supplies, including food and litter have run $955.62.

For an organization of our size, which took in about $33,000 in donations last year, spending a little over 10 percent of your income in two weeks is well....unsustainable.

We'd love to continue to help the crisis in our community, but without the financial support of said community, we're going to quickly have to start turning people away.

Our buds over at Animal Assistance League of Slidell at the Slidell Animal Shelter need back up too — we’ve still got lots of dogs here at STPAS but please take a look at their available animals as well! We make no distinction between animals in our community whether they are with us or within Slidell. What matters is they are OUR community’s homeless animals. We’ve got their back, and they’ve got ours. We are in this together.

C’mon St. Tammany — East and West, North and South - from Bush and Sun, to Madisonville and Folsom, Covington, Mandeville, Abita Springs, Lacombe, Pearl River and Slidell — heck even Talisheek, Big Branch and Waldheim — let’s all rally together for the animals of our shelters! They’re waiving their adoption fees in line with ours being waived, so now is a great time to consider adoption or fostering! It’s life or death folks - our shelters are struggling. We both need YOU! Yes, YOU! You there reading this— share these posts! It costs you nothing, but it could be everything to an innocent animal!

🐕Our shelter has reached a level we’ve never wanted to see! Kennels are full, temporary housing is full, and dogs are now occupying pop-up kennels simply because there is nowhere else for them to go.

We need dogs leaving the shelter.

To help create desperately needed space, we are WAIVING adoption fees on ALL DOGS for Thursday, June 11, Friday, June 12 AND Saturday, June 13.

This isn’t just a promotion. It’s an emergency effort to help relieve the overcrowding and give these dogs a chance to get out of the shelter and into homes.
