August 8th is International Cat Day! 🐈🗓️

Over the last decade, more and more people have fallen in love with the purry furballs we all know- and we have the fun stats to share!

In 2006, an estimated 16.7% of US households had a feline. 20 years later that number has soared to an estimated 35% of US homes owning a cat. Us Washingtonians are above average when it comes to our love for cats as 37% of residents in the state have at least one cat. Among the US as a whole, single-kitty homes have actually decreased down to 58% as cat owners realize they can't have just one. Households with 3+ feline companions has risen by 36% just since 2018!

Celebrate International Cat Day with your furry loved ones this year by making sure they are up to date on annual exams and vaccines. A healthy kitty is a happy kitty!

This is Shoyo 😻 She came to us to find a new home that hopefully will be able to meet her needs. She is an anxious cat and cowers down when other animals are around so she really needs a one cat family.
When she is completely comfortable, she is the sweetest baby ever!

A recent study published in Nature found harmful, antibiotic-resistant pathogens like Salmonella, Cronobacter, and E. coli in commercial raw cat foods, posing health risks to pets and humans, especially vulnerable groups. Many products lack warnings about the dangers of undercooked ingredients, according to author and researcher Dr. Laura Goodman, Ph.D. ’07, assistant professor in the Department of Public and Ecosystem Health and in The Baker Institute for Animal Health in the College of Veterinary Medicine.
