As Easter approaches, please remember that lillies are very dangerous for cats. The entire lily plant is toxic: the stem, leaves, flowers, pollen, and even the water in a vase. Early signs of lily toxicity in cats include decreased activity level, drooling, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Seek medical attention for your pet immediately if you suspect it may have ingested any part of the plant.

Fireworks are already starting, so now it's a good time to make sure your dog and cat have a collar with an updated ID tag. It is also important to microchip your pet and check that your contact information is current.

Animal shelters see the largest increase in strays every July 5th. Only about 26% of those pets are reunited with their families. A microchip will bring your pet home the same day it is taken in at the shelter, so they do not have to wait days or weeks until you find them, or risk being euthanized if you were too late.

Also, if you are looking to adopt or foster a pet, June and July is the perfect time! Animal shelters have to prepare for the increase of strays July 5th by emptying the cages in advance. Save a life and adopt! 🐢❀🐱
