A coffee shop is a great place to socialize your pup! You can sit outside at a table ask your pup to down while you are having coffee. Your pup will see new people hear new sounds and see different things. Bring treats with you while they are laying drop a treat often in the beginning then ease off when they start to understand.

When you take your puppy to a store for the first time bring a calm confident dog with you. It helps a puppy not be so nervous. After your pup understand wait at home try it in public. It's a different place with different sights and sounds so be patient.

Rear end awareness is loud sounds coming from behind while out walking. Put something (raw or peanut butter on a lick matt. Use plastic cups or metal dog bowls. If they stop licking after you toss a cup or tap a cup against something pause let them process. When they start licking again start tossing them again. It doesn't take long for them to understand.

First time visiting a store. Be calm and have patience. Ask for sit and wait. At first just take a step or two if they try to follow lean in with a leg repeat wait. Once they understand try looking at some plants for duration. Don't keep eye contact in the beginning it can cause your puppy to go towards you.

If you're pup gets nervous about a different sight or sound stop and stay for a minute. Ask him to sit say their name so they look at you and give them a treat. Keep repeating this for a few minutes. If it's a sight take them back the next day. You would probably be surprised when it doesn't make them nervous the next day. If they are still nervous keep coming back!!

Does your puppy chase the broom while sweeping? Yes of course they do. Teach them place and wait on a raised bed. Once they understand those commands bring out the broom and start sweeping while they are on the bed. You can do one swipe and mark and reward. Gradually adding more swipes. If they try to jump off say shhhh! The sound I make for correction. If they make it off ask for them to place again. Please use your calm positive attitude in this exercise.

If you want to take your puppy out for coffee or to get something to eat start practicing at home at your kitchen table. Go to the chair and sit while holding your pup's leash. Ask for down. In the beginning you give treats every 10 seconds once they start to understand slow down on the treat's. When they do well at home with no distractions take them to home Depot or Lowe's. Practice the same thing as you did at home. Be patient there are lots of people and different sounds. Once they do well here you are ready for Starbucks or?

Outside gates matter I never want to see a puppy run into the street. First start on a place board just taking one step back and then reward. Do this serval times. Then take two steps etc. Next step your front door and outside gates. Take your time with your positive attitude helping your puppy understand what wait means.
Also I use waiting instead of wait. Puppies understand this faster than using wait.

Before you take your pup out to a store for socializing start at home in your front yard (if you have a fenced yard) Other people will be walking their dog and cars will be going by. Your neighbor might be mowing their lawn ect. This gives your puppy a place to hear and see different things.

When or if you do a board and train you should do sessions with your trainer. You also need training ask your trainer for guidance.
