When socializing your puppy it doesn't mean to let everyone pet your pup, and greet every dog. If you let them meet and greet all who ask you will have a reactive dog. They will pull your arm bark,
and spring forward. Go to places where there are people let them observe and if they are not checking in say their name when they look at you give them a treat.

When starting off lead start inside not at a park or neighborhood. Start walking when you feel confident drop the lead. Make sure you have treats in your left hand, and talk to them. (what a good boy, look at you go) If they step away one paw say their name and here.

Recall is very important for your dog to understand. Start at home using a leash ask your pup to sit stay. Take a couple of steps backwards and call them. If they don't come use the leash to bring them to you. Make sure you use high value treats. When they understand come or here leave the leash on and let them run around. Call them if they don't come you have a tool (leash) go grab the leash and say come while walking them back to where you called them from. Then repeat until they understand. It will not take long for your pup to understand.

Dogs will jump when they get excited No one wants a pup jumping all over them. Sit get loud bang the chair. When they just be (not jumping) reward heavy with high value treats. And correct if they jump. They learn quickly that four on the floor gets treats when they jump they get nothing.

When you first take your puppy out they might be nervous in a new environment with different sights and sounds. When they break their stay I say shhhh and walk towards them. Be calm and patient and ask again. Don't stay long 10-15 session then come back the next day and do another training session.

In everyday life you will want your dog to stay while you are outside. Once you're pup understand stay at home Add some distractions. Calmly put your pup behind a object ask for a sit stay. Use a firm voice don't baby talk them. If you're pup starts to follow calmly put them back and ask again. In just a few repetitions they will understand and TRUST you!

No one wants their dog to run out of the door and into the street. Start by teaching your dog wait at the door. Ask him to wait Slowly open the door. If they try to go out close the door and start again calmly and confident. When you can open the door all the way walk out just two steps come back and reward. Then increase your distance. When they are doing well waiting add distractions. A calm pup is a happy pup

Puppies are in a following state up until 4 months. Why not take advantage of this. When your puppy is doing well on lead, and you would like your dog to be off Leash drop the lead. Take a few steps drop the leash (make sure you have treats in your hand) just start taking sweet (Toby what a good boy Look at You Toby) If they start to drift say their name and here.

Do you want to take your dog with you? Start them well before 16 weeks. Start at home teaching the command once they understand take them out. Don't be alarmed if the session doesn't go well the first time. Just keep coming back using high value treats.
When your puppy breaks a wait calmly walk towards and ask for wait again. Don't ask your puppy to wait to long in the beginning it's 10-15 seconds. Pick up something quickly off a shelf and put it back.
