🐾 From outdoor living to the comfort of forever homes! 🐾

At the end of May, we welcomed four Great Pyrenees siblings who had been living outdoors. Rosebud and her brothers, B-Dawg, Mudbud, and Budderball, have all found their forever homes, where they’re being loved and spoiled beyond their wildest dreams! ❤️

As you can see in the photos, these pups have definitely discovered a love for soft, cozy furniture! 🛋️ Nothing makes us happier than knowing these sweet babies are comfy, cozy, and settling into life as beloved companions to their new families. 🥰

At HSOC, our goal is to find the perfect match for both you and your future furry friend. We want you to find a companion who fits your life just as much as you fit theirs!

🐶 Looking for your forever friend but not sure where to start? Submit an adoption application! We’re here to help you find that special dog who clicks with you like a missing puzzle piece. 💕

It’s hard to believe we haven’t received applications on Hudson and Wyatt yet. These 5-month-old brothers are sweet as could be and love to the snuggle! They are bonded are looking for a forever home together.

Hudson is a beautiful tabby boy who loves to play, cuddle, and soak up ALL the attention. His favorite kind of play is cuddling up with you and gently nibbling your fingers. It doesn’t hurt. It's just Hudson’s very special way of saying, “I love you!” His forever family will just need to know that finger-nibbling is part of his love language. He loves being picked up and cuddled. He’s an affectionate boy who wants to be right in the middle of everything! ❤️🐾

Then there’s his brother, Wyatt. Wyatt is an orange-and-white boy and one of the most trusting little loaves you’ll ever meet. Once he gets to know you, Wyatt is completely comfortable being handled and isn’t afraid of much at all. He loves attention and, just like his brother, shows his affection with some gentle finger nibbling. 😹

These two are best furriends, and we really hope their forever family will have enough room in their hearts and home for both of them. They love each other and deserve to grow up together.

SASHA FOUND HER FOREVER HOME! ❤️🏡

Sasha is a deformed polydactyl whose previous owner struggled to keep up with her nail-trimming needs, unfortunately allowing them to become severely overgrown and ingrown. Our amazing team stepped in to give this precious girl the care she needed, including removing toe beans from both front paws to help resolve her painful nail issues. 🥹

Despite everything, Sasha has taken her circumstances in stride. She has adapted with grace, and her adorable little gait is just one more thing that makes her special! Now pain-free, with her nail issues addressed, this beautiful girl is ready to enjoy the good life she deserves.

And that's exactly what she's found with Michael and Elena! They looked beyond Sasha's unique needs, opened their hearts and home to her, and gave her the chance at a happily ever after. Now she's receiving all the affection she could want from her loving humans and getting along beautifully with her new orange tabby companion! 🧡🐈

We couldn't be happier for Sasha! Thank you, Michael and Elena, for seeing the beauty in this special girl and giving her the loving home she deserves. Here's to a lifetime of cuddles, companionship, and happy, pain-free days! 🎉

One of Kenai's adopted siblings completed a DNA test, and we can officially confirm that our guess was right! This lanky little guy really is a German Shepherd mix.

Kenai is almost 7 months old, and he and his brother Kodiak are STILL waiting for their forever families. Will these boys find their people before their first birthdays? We sure hope so!

Kodiak, Kenai, and their already-adopted siblings, Sitka and Denali, were all found at a dump. A literal trash dump. These precious pups made their way to the Humane Society of Oldham County, recovered from their previous living condition, and have been an absolute joy to care for. Now, two of the four are still waiting for their happily ever after.

Kenai is a special kiddo who can be a little more afraid of the world than his siblings. He may need a little extra patience and understanding as he navigates new experiences, but he loves his people and has made friends with the dogs he's felt comfortable around. We consider Kenai dog-selective, so any potential canine siblings will need to meet him to make sure they're a good match.

We're not sure how Kenai feels about cats just yet, but we'd be happy to cat-test him for an approved adopter. We do know that he's housetrained, crate trained, currently around 30 pounds, and expected to weigh a little over 40 pounds when fully grown.

Kenai has already overcome so much in his short life. Now, he deserves the chance to grow up in a home where he can feel safe, build confidence, and be loved for exactly who he is. ❤️

MEET MORDECAI (AKA CAI)! 🐈‍⬛

At 6 months old, Mordecai is still figuring out this big world, and he prefers to take his time getting to know new people. But once he feels safe, this sweet boy has lots of love to give!

Cai loves pets, snuggles, and sharing his thoughts with anyone willing to listen. He's a talkative little guy who might just become your personal conversationalist and professional cuddle buddy!

Cai has come a long way since arriving at HSOC sick and scared. Now, he's ready for a forever home where he can continue to blossom. He needs a home with another cat to be his feline friend, playmate, and nap buddy. ❤️🐾

Are you looking for a sweet, snuggly boy who just needs a little time to come out of his shell? Mordecai is waiting to meet you!

Cathy, whom her foster family lovingly calls Ivy, has been in foster care for about a month now. She came to HSOC from a hoarding situation up north, and when she arrived, she was completely shut down.

She didn't want to eat. She didn't want to drink water. She certainly didn't want to be touched. Her only source of peace was being outside in our play yard with other dogs.

But since going to her foster home, Cathy has started making progress. She's learning to accept affection from people and is even beginning to seek it out herself! Her happy place is still outside, enjoying the company of her foster family's other dogs, and we know she'd thrive in a home with other dogs or even cats. She's indifferent to children.

Cathy will need a family with plenty of patience, understanding, and love. She's going to need time to learn how to navigate life as a beloved pet, and the truth is, she may never be a completely carefree, confident dog. But that's okay. She deserves a family who will love her for exactly who she is, celebrate every little victory, and give her the time and space she needs to blossom.

We believe this sweet 2-year-old Red Labrador Retriever has so much potential, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her.

For the next month, Cathy's adoption fee will be reduced! She also comes with a free training session from Jim Kats of Micky's House.

If you have room in your heart and home for a dog who needs a little extra understanding, please consider giving Cathy a chance. Submit an adoption application to get started!

A little update on our burn survivor, Phoenix Firefly!

We wanted to share a quick update on Phoenix Firefly! We gave her a middle name after realizing we already have another orange kitten named Phoenix at the shelter. Oopsies! 😹 But we still love the name our Facebook followers suggested, and we think Phoenix Firefly suits her story purrfectly!

Phoenix is settling into shelter life wonderfully, and we think she knows she’s safe now. She absolutely loves pets, attention, belly rubs, and ear rubs. Despite everything she’s been through and how she was treated in the past, this girl has so much love to give.

She’ll be spayed in a few weeks, once she’s had plenty of time to decompress and settle in. After that, she’ll be ready to find her forever home!

One thing we've learned about Phoenix Firefly is that she isn’t a fan of sharing her space with other cats, so she’ll be looking for a home where she can be the one and only feline queen. And honestly? After everything this brave girl has endured, we think she deserves to be a spoiled princess! 💗👑

Stay tuned for more updates on Phoenix Firefly as she continues her journey toward the happy ending she deserves.

The shelter is no place for a cat like Eunice, and unfortunately, she’s already spent 256 days here waiting for a home. 💔

At 4 years old, Eunice is having an especially hard time with shelter life. Other cats cause her a lot of stress, which means she has to spend most of her time confined and separated from them. She deserves so much more than that.

Eunice is a sweet girl but she has boundaries, and she isn’t afraid to tell you about them. She loves being brushed and petted, but when she’s had enough, she will let you know.

Before coming to us, Eunice had a loving mom of her own. Sadly, her mom developed dementia and had to move into assisted living, leaving Eunice without the home and person who once made her feel safe and loved.

Eunice needs to be the only cat in the home, OR she could happily live in her own dedicated space like a finished basement, guest room or similar area where she can relax without the stress of other cats.

The best part? A Good Samaritan has already paid Eunice’s adoption fee.

Kodiak looks ridiculously CUTE dressed up as Batman and we think he deserves a superhero-sized happily ever after. 🦇🐾

At 7 months old, our little Kodiak is growing up in the shelter, and we would love nothing more than to see him find the family he's been waiting for, preferably before his 1st birthday!

Kodiak is a German Shepherd mix, currently around 30 pounds and expected to top out at a little over 40 pounds. Unlike your classic GSD, Kodiak has the cutest little lumpy, folded ears! His ears have a cosmetic defect caused by trauma called a hematoma. We monitored them closely as he grew, and they were ultimately determined to be purely cosmetic. His ears may be a little different, but we think that just makes him all the more special! 🥹

Kodiak is housetrained, crate trained, and willing to play dress up! He would do best in a home with children ages 6 and up, and he gets along with most other dogs. We believe he would do well with cats, too, and would be happy to cat-test him for an approved adopter.

Kodiak's story began at a dump. A literal dump, surrounded by trash with his siblings. Denali and Sitka have since found their forever homes, but Kodiak and Kenai are still waiting for their turn.

Could you be the hero Kodiak has been waiting for? Submit an adoption application on our website to schedule a meet-and-greet with this sweet boy! You can also help our little Batman find his forever family before his first birthday by sharing his story. ❤️🏡
