NEW UPDATE!

I am now officially an AKC CGC Evaluator!

This means I can administer:
• AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy
• Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
• AKC Community Canine
• Urban CGC
• Video Home Manners
• Trick Dog tests

I’ll be offering classes to work toward these programs as time permits.

Also, I’m currently booked out a couple of weeks. I’m returning calls in between lessons and whenever I get a random moment.

I really appreciate everyone’s patience. If you haven’t heard back from me, please try again. I may have been distracted by life, dogs, or SQUIRRELS. 🤪

Playing tug with your dog doesn’t create aggression—it builds confidence.

And yes, let them win some of the time!

🐾 WEEKEND CHALLENGE! 🐾

I challenge everyone to play Hide & Seek with your dog this weekend!

It’s fun, easy, and a great way to work on recall, focus, confidence, and getting your dog excited about finding YOU.

Start easy, make it fun, and celebrate when they find you!

Then come back and tell me how it went—or better yet, post a picture or video of your dog playing!

Every month seems to have a theme, and every month is different. Sometimes it’s puppies. Sometimes it’s service dogs. This month, it’s reactive dogs.

If you’re living with a reactive dog—a dog that barks, lunges, growls, or struggles around other dogs, people, or certain situations—I want you to know something:

It can get better. ā¤ļø

Maybe you feel like you’ve tried everything. Maybe you’re exhausted, frustrated, and wondering if you’ve reached the end of the road.

Before you give up. Before you rehome your dog. Before you call the shelter and ask them to take your dog back…

Come schedule a time to talk to me first.

Let’s look at what’s really going on and see what we can do together.

Reactive dogs can learn. They can improve. And yes, it really is possible to have a better life with your dog.

Don’t give up on them just yet. 🐾

Lessons are done for the day. Now it’s time for some quality time with my pups.

So most of you know I’m postponing lessons until the smoke clears. Anything over 100 AQI is unhealthy for dogs and people, and I don’t want to put anyone at risk.

I know several of you are dealing with behavior issues with your dogs right now. Please remember that the heat and smoke are stressful for them too. The difference is, they don’t understand why they feel uncomfortable or why their normal routines have changed.

So please give yourself and your dogs some grace right now. ā¤ļø Take care of your own mental health, too. This is not the time to push your dog to learn a bunch of new things, expect perfect behavior, or take long walks outside.

Sometimes the best training is simply helping your dog feel safe, comfortable, and loved until things settle down. 🐾

Instead, here’s a picture of my new granddoggy for you all to enjoy.

Hey, on a serious note...

If you or your dog are feeling run down from the heat or smoke, please don't hesitate to reschedule your lesson. Dog training can wait.

I know many of my clients—including myself—live with chronic illnesses, and I care far more about your health (and your dog's) than sticking to a schedule.

We're doing everything we can to keep the shop cool and the air filtered, but smoke exposure can have a cumulative effect. If you need to stay home and rest, I completely understand. There will always be another day to train.
