PSA of the week.

If your corn snake, kingsnake, milksnake, ratsnake, African house snake, etc is big enough to eat 2 pinky mice, it's big enough to eat a fuzzy. If it's big enough to eat 3-4 pinkies, it's big enough to eat a hopper mouse. Pinkies are higher in fat and cartilage. The older and more developed the mouse, the more nutrients it contains to make more snake; ex. like calcium from more bones along with other more complex nutrients.

On average, snakes can eat meals 50% larger than the thickest part of their bodies.

Other stores telling people to feed multiple pinkies, a pinky sells for what, 75 cents each at most stores while a fuzzy around a buck. Two pinkies is more money than one fuzzy. A hopper is maybe a bit over a buck. 3-4 pinkies is $2.25- $3. Those 3 pinkies are less nutrient dense and now made that store an extra $2 every single week.

There's always some snakes that are outliers with other preferences, but the vast majority do just as well, if not better, being fed appropriate sized meals at appropriate intervals, which can often be a little easier on the pocketbook.

More than 6 years ago I set out to do things differently, to change the way things have been done, to do better for animals and people. To not mislead people for a few extra dollars. 6 years later, still here, still doing it every day.
